I have read with great interest Gauresh Vargaonkar’s paper titled ‘‘Giant Cell Tumor of the Tendon Sheath Around the Foot and Ankle’’ [1] which was published in the May/June 2015 issue of JAPMA.

In the paper, in Table 1, “Reported Cases of GCTTS Around the Foot and Ankle,” the author quotes a 2012 study of Erin L. Adams titled “Giant Cell Tumor of the Tendon Sheath: Experience With 65 Cases.” [2]. The table gives information regarding the cases that were seen in the foot and ankle. In the table, Vargaonkar indicates that foot involvement was not mentioned in Erin L. Adams’ study.

However, Erin L. Adams’ study “Giant Cell Tumor of the Tendon Sheath: Experience With 65 Cases” is related to hand and fingers. It is obvious that all the 65 cases were located in the upper extremity.

For this reason, I believe that Vargaonkar’s paper should not include Erin L. Adams’ study.

Many thanks for showing interest in our published article [1] in JAPMA. Apart from reporting three cases of giant cell tumors of tendon sheath (GCTTS) involving foot and ankle region, the article presents a brief review of published cases on the topic. Table 1 in the article gives an overview of previously published cases of GCT-TS in the foot and ankle region. Agreeably, as pointed out by Zeybek, the penultimate row of Adams et al. [2] could have been omitted from the table as it focuses on GCTTS cases on hand region only. The table though rightly mentions in the third column that there was no case of GCT-TS involving foot and ankle region in their series [1,2].
