Comments and Suggestions for Authors

The authors, D. A. Parkhomenko et al., reported a synthesis of 1H,1H,7H-dodecafluoroheptyl pentafluorobenzoate (1). They provided NMRs, MS, IR, UV-Vis, and HPLC chromatogram on the SI, which support the reliability of the structure of 1.

It is a bit disappointing that they did not attempt to improve the yield of 1 in approach III, and each of the efficient synthetic methods (approaches I and II) relies on classical techniques. Nevertheless, I think the paper would be suitable for publication on Molbank.

 

Issues:

  1. Compound number should be shown in bold, not italic.
  2. Line 45; Please insert a half-space between the reaction time and the unit.
  3. Experimental section; Were the carboxylic acid and the alcohol added in a 1:1 ratio, rather than 1:2 in approach I? The experimental procedure differs from the description in the main text. Please check the paper carefully again.

Response: We thank the reviewer for pointing this out and apologize for our oversight. Experiments were done with both 1:1 and 1:2 ratios, and we have added a description of the synthesis with the 1:2 ratio. We have also amended the discussion of these experiments, all changes are highlighted in yellow.
