Report on “Geometric phase of a transmon in a dissipative quantum circuit”

Superconducting circuits are physical devises with multiple uses. They are not only accessible for effective engineering but also accept effective control strategies. That is why studying such cirquits from QED perspective is important both for applications and better understanding of physics behind quantum dynamics.  The Authors study one of best studied geometric features of quantum dynamics: the geometric phase (GP) in a composite system of  a transmon

coupled to a superconductor resonating cavity. Dissipative dynamics of a nonlinear transmon

coupled to a one-mode resonator, as it is shown in the paper under review and a transmission line indicate both physical and mathematical properties of great interest and importance not only for understanding nature of the transmon artificial atom but also for its applications in quantum information  using e.g. geometric gates for  processing. The paper is well written. All the results are clearly presented and credibly justified. I recommend publication of the paper by Entropy in its present form

Author Response

Dear referee,

we are grateful for your positive feedback on our manuscript. We have incorporated the changes you suggested, and we believe they have significantly improved the overall presentation. Thank you for your valuable input.

In particular,

  • we have included the references suggested in points 1)- (a-d) of your report, as well as additional ones, such as the new references [56-59], regarding the values of the physical parameters used in our presentation. We have also added a new paragraph in order to show paramter values and the detuning selected, in Section 3.
  • we have enhanced the explanation of Figure 1, clarifying the role of the various parameters in the new caption. There is also a new paragraph on this before Eq.(4).
  • we have added the new equation (8) along with a brief explanation.
  • the issue of units mentioned by the referee throughout the manuscript has also been addressed.

All the minor points mentioned have also been taken into account, and we have followed the recommendations of the referee.

We have highlighted all the changes made throughout the manuscript in red to ensure they are easily noticeable.

Sincerely,

Fernando Lombardo
