The adoption of artificial intelligence has risen, yet research on its impact on innovation processes between actual businesses remains sparse. This research fills the present gap by investigating ten workers from a tech startup who utilize artificial intelligence tools in operational and creative activities. The paper analyzes business-related AI functionality through a qualitative analysis of ten tech start-up employees. The examination reveals that AI produces significant enhancements in problem resolution by executing mundane actions while analyzing large datasets to deliver data-driven suggestions to users. The interview respondents mentioned that AI’s role in diminishing supply chains is 15%, while allowing AI to manage customer service without employee engagement in 80% of interactions. The implementation costs, along with data dependency and occasional contextual blindness in AI systems, represented some of the problems in this system. Analysis demonstrated that AI tools enable the development of innovative concepts and challenge established viewpoints, prompting participants to create a gamified loyalty system and dynamic content planning. Participants in the study emphasized the need for human involvement to refine AI-based insights, recognizing how human imagination complements AI capabilities effectively. The work enhances academic discussions about AI-related problem-solving and creativity while offering specific business-related recommendations for implementation. The recommendations begin with establishing initial experimental programs, while providing support for employee’s skills development, and fostering strong alliances between technical AI personnel and professional subject matter experts. Research topics focused on AI application fields and the anticipated impacts on company decision-making, as well as the ethical ramifications, need further exploration. This research confirms the revolutionary potential of artificial intelligence systems for problem-solving methods, but requires proper execution, along with human supervision, to fully realize their advantages. Between 2020 and 2024, museums underwent accelerated digital transformation driven by the global health crisis and technological advances, exposing deep inequalities in access to technology and communication capabilities. Museums with limited resources had to rethink their digital strategies to sustain audience engagement and cultural relevance. This article presents a comparative study of museums in Argentina and Spain with restricted budgets, analyzing how they responded to challenges of uncertainty and scarcity. Using a mixed methodology—surveys of 22 professionals, interviews with directors of four representative museums, and qualitative case studies—this study examines the implemented solutions and their impacts. The findings highlight innovative practices grounded in creativity, strategic alliances, and intensive use of social media. Argentine museums excelled in tactical adaptation amid economic instability, while Spanish institutions showed stronger strategic planning. Private museums proved more flexible than their public counterparts, which faced greater bureaucratic constraints. This work contributes to debates on institutional resilience and offers a framework for sustainable digital communication in resource-limited contexts. Full article

The holobiont paradigm, conceptualizing host–microbiome assemblages as functionally integrated entities, has fundamentally altered interpretations of adaptive responses to environmental pressures spanning multiple organizational levels. This review synthesizes the current knowledge on microbiome-host coevolution, focusing on three key aspects. First, it examines the evolutionary origins of holobionts from primordial microbial consortia. Second, it considers the mechanistic basis of microbiome-mediated stress resilience in plants and animals. Finally, it explores the ecological implications of inter-holobiont interactions. We highlight how early microbial alliances (protomicrobiomes) laid the groundwork for eukaryotic complexity through metabolic cooperation, with modern holobionts retaining this plasticity to confront abiotic and biotic stressors. In plants, compartment-specific microbiomes (e.g., rhizosphere, phyllosphere) enhance drought tolerance or nutrient acquisition, while in animals, the gut microbiome modulates neuroendocrine and immune functions via multi-organ axes (gut–brain, gut–liver, etc.). Critically, we emphasize the role of microbial metabolites (e.g., short-chain fatty acids, VOCs) as universal signaling molecules that coordinate holobiont responses to environmental change. Emerging strategies, like microbiome engineering and probiotics, are discussed as tools to augment stress resilience in agriculture and medicine. By framing adaptation as a collective trait of the holobiont, this work bridges evolutionary biology, microbiology, and ecology to offer a unified perspective on stress biology. Full article

Background: COVID-19 has limited pregnant and postpartum women’s access to mental health services, leading to the introduction of online interventions. Objectives: This study aims to compare the effectiveness of telepsychotherapy (i.e., psychotherapy provided through digital technology supporting real-time interactivity in the audio or audiovisual modality) with the one yielded by face-to-face interventions in treating perinatal depression and anxiety and to assess the therapist’s perceived alliance in both interventions. Methods: We collected anamnestic information and obstetrical risk factors for 61 women. We evaluated the effectiveness of face-to-face (N = 31) vs. telepsychotherapy (N = 30) interventions on depressive and anxiety symptoms at baseline (T0) and the end of treatment (T1) using the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) and the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI-Y 1 and 2). We assessed the degree of alliance perceived by therapists with the Working Alliance Inventory (WAI-T). Results: Both groups showed significant decreases in depressive (EPDS face-to-face: T0 12.65 ± 5.81, T1 5.77 ± 4.63, p < 0.001; EPDS remote: T0 11.93 ± 5.24, T1 5.70 ± 4.46, p < 0.001; effect size: 0.002) and state anxiety (STAI-Y 1 face-to-face: T0 51.19 ± 13.73, T1 40.23 ± 12.86, p < 0.001; STAI-Y 1 remote: T0 51.10 ± 11.29, T1 38.00 ± 10.90, p < 0.001; effect size: 0.007//STAI-Y 2 face-to-face: T0 43.13 ± 12.11, T1 41.03 ± 13.06, p = 0.302; STAI-Y 2 remote: T0 44.20 ± 8.70, T1 39.30 ± 9.58, p = 0.003; effect size: <0.001) symptoms by the end of treatment. Women treated remotely also experienced a significant reduction in trait anxiety at T1 (p = 0.003). We found no significant differences in either symptomatology (EPDS; STAI-Y) between the two interventions at baseline or in the therapist-perceived alliance. Conclusions: Synchronous telepsychotherapy for perinatal depression and anxiety showed comparable treatment response to face-to-face interventions, with both modalities associated with significant symptom reduction and the establishment of a working alliance. These findings support the potential of telepsychotherapy as a valuable alternative when in-person services are not accessible, especially during emergency contexts. Full article

Vertical alliances within agricultural supply chains serve as critical institutional vehicles for deepening triple-sector integration (primary–secondary–tertiary) in rural economies, driving agricultural modernization, and advancing rural revitalization. However, sustaining alliance stability constitutes a complex dynamic process wherein inadequate stakeholder engagement and collaborative failures frequently precipitate alliance instability or even dissolution. Existing scholarship exhibits limited systematic examination of the micro-mechanisms and regulatory pathways through which multi-agent strategic interactions affect alliance stability from a dynamic evolutionary perspective. To address this gap, this research focuses on China’s core agricultural innovation vehicle—the Agricultural Industrialization Consortium—and examines the tripartite structure of “Leading Enterprise–Family Farm–Integrated Agricultural Service Providers.” We construct a tripartite evolutionary game model to systematically analyze (1) the influence mechanisms governing cooperative strategy selection, and (2) the regulatory effects of key parameters on consortium stability through strategic stability analysis and multi-scenario simulations. Our key findings are as follows: Four strategic equilibrium scenarios emerge under specific conditions, with synergistic parameter optimization constituting the fundamental driver of alliance stability. Specific mechanisms are as follows: (i) compensation mechanisms effectively mobilize leading enterprises under widespread defection, though excessive penalties erode reciprocity principles; (ii) strategic reductions in benefit sharing ratios coupled with moderate factor value-added coefficients are critical for reversing leading enterprises’ defection; (iii) dual adjustment of cost sharing and benefit sharing coefficients is necessary to resolve bilateral defection dilemmas; and (iv) synchronized optimization of compensation, cost sharing, benefit sharing, and value-added parameters represents the sole pathway to achieving stable (1,1,1) full-cooperation equilibrium. Critical barriers include threshold effects in benefit sharing ratios (defection triggers when shared benefits > cooperative benefits) and the inherent trade-off between penalty intensity and alliance resilience. Consequently, policy interventions must balance immediate constraints with long-term cooperative sustainability. This study extends the application of evolutionary game theory in agricultural organization research by revealing the micro-level mechanisms underlying alliance stability and providing a novel analytical framework for addressing the ‘strategy–equilibrium’ paradox in multi-agent cooperation. Our work not only offers new theoretical perspectives and methodological support for understanding the dynamic stability mechanisms of agricultural vertical alliances but also establishes a substantive theoretical foundation for optimizing consortium governance and promoting long-term alliance stability. Background/Objectives: Chronic medical conditions are comorbid with psychological disorders, often attributed to the weight of managing persistent demands associated with debilitating illness. Lifestyle adjustments, physical pain, and costs of health care can impose impairment of functioning, exacerbated by the onset of a chronic disease. While cause-and-effect directionality is difficult to ascertain, it is widely assumed that psychological stress can exacerbate the ability of patients to manage chronic medical conditions. Methods: The current study examined a novel model comprising five psychological factors which might explain variations in patients’ level of adherence, satisfaction, and quality of life. The sample consisted primarily of 124 low-income, female Hispanic patients, who were patients diagnosed with rheumatic and endocrine medical diagnoses. Results: Psychological distress and the lingering psychological effects of the COVID-19 pandemic were negatively associated with patient adherence, satisfaction, and quality of life, and that patients’ reports of the working alliances with their doctors moderated (i.e., significantly lessened) the negative association between the lingering impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and their satisfaction with care. Patients’ self-efficacy, resilience, and working alliance were all positively and significantly associated with adherence, satisfaction, and QOL. The association between working alliance and satisfaction represents a very large effect (r = 0.77, p < 0.001). Path analysis found a direct effect between psychological distress (stand. est. = 0.28, p = 0.05) and treatment adherence and a direct effect between COVID-19 impact and adherence (stand. est. = −0.19, p = 0.05). Conclusions: This study provides evidence of the role that both psychological stress and psychological strengths play in the experience of receiving medical care for low-income patients with rheumatic and endocrine conditions. Psychological stress inhibits adherence, and the physician–patient working alliance moderates the negative correlation between COVID impact and treatment satisfaction. Full article

This article examines how Afghan refugee resettlement in Muncie, Indiana challenges dominant narratives about both Midwestern homogeneity and refugee victimhood. Through research with Afghan refugees who arrived following the 2021 U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, I analyze how everyday encounters between refugees and longtime residents reveal complex imperial connections. Drawing on Critical Refugee Studies, I argue that Afghan presence in the American Midwest is not incidental but directly produced by decades of U.S. military intervention. Cultural narratives that portray the Midwest as predominantly white are not only misleading but also fuel dangerous ideologies like nativism and white supremacy, which lead to anti-refugee and immigrant policies and practices that have dire consequences. By centering Afghan refugees within longer histories of imperialism, racialization, and migration, I demonstrate how face-to-face interactions produce unexpected alliances that question previously held ideologies and challenge U.S. empire. This work contributes to understanding how refugee integration collapses boundaries between foreign and domestic, revealing how empire fundamentally shapes citizenship, belonging, and regional identity in America’s heartland. This empirical pilot study explored the use of wearable eye-tracking technology to gain objective insights into interpersonal interactions, particularly in healthcare provider training. Traditional methods of understanding these interactions rely on subjective observations, but wearable tech offers a more precise, multimodal approach. This multidisciplinary study integrated counseling perspectives on therapeutic alliance with an empirically motivated wearable framework informed by prior research in clinical psychology. The aims of the study were to describe the complex data that can be achieved with wearable technology and to test our primary hypothesis that the therapeutic alliance in clinical training interactions is associated with certain behaviors consistent with stronger interpersonal engagement. One key finding was that a single multimodal feature predicted discrepancies in client versus therapist working alliance ratings (b = −4.29, 95% CI [−8.12, −0.38]), suggesting clients may have perceived highly structured interactions as less personal than therapists did. Multimodal features were more strongly associated with therapist rated working alliance, whereas linguistic analysis better captured client rated working alliance. The preliminary findings support the utility of multimodal approaches to capture clinical interactions. This technology provides valuable context for developing actionable insights without burdening instructors or learners. Findings from this study will motivate data-driven methods for providing actionable feedback to clinical trainees. Full article

The current study investigates effects from a non-formal coach education program based on mentorship on the coach–athlete working alliance (CAWA), perceived coach performance (PCP), coaches’ perceptions of self (CPS), and social resources in sport (SRS). Fifty-four elite coaches from a variety of sports who participated in a non-formal coach education program based on mentorship over a period of 18 months, and 21 coaches from a control group, completed data collection at both the pre- and post-test. The results from regression analyses show that the group variable significantly explained the variance in the PCP and SRS at the post-test, whereas the group variable did not significantly explain any variance in CAWA and CPS at the post-test. Thus, the results in the current study indicate positive results from the coach education program on PCP and SRS. The current results are discussed based on the effect mentorship might have on coaches’ self-reflections based on their own experiences, and the importance of building social networks among their peer coaches. This study examined 112 CKD patients’ adherence to and satisfaction with treatment, and their quality of life, as mediated by the level of psychological stress experienced as well as their working alliance, resilience, and social support. The patients were receiving care at a public teaching hospital in the northeast region of the U.S. The results indicated a significant moderate negative correlation between psychological distress and quality of life (r = −0.34, p < 0.01). The results also indicated significant positive moderate to strong correlations between the physician–patient working alliance and adherence (r = 0.42, p < 0.001), satisfaction (r = 0.55, p < 0.001), and quality of life (r = 0.51, p < 0.001), between social support and quality of life (r = 0.39, p < 0.001), and significant moderate positive correlations between resilience and adherence (r = 0.35, p < 0.001) and satisfaction (r = 0.26, p < 0.01). Regression analyses indicated that the following predictors were significant: patient adherence was positively predicted by the working alliance (β = 0.42, p < 0.001); patient satisfaction was positively predicted by the working alliance (β = 0.51, p < 0.001) and negatively predicted by psychological distress (β = −18, p < 0.048); and quality of life was positively predicted by the working alliance (β = 0.38, p < 0.001) and social support (β = 0.28, p < 0.016) and negatively predicted by psychological distress (β = −0.34, p < 0.002). Moderation analyses indicated that the working alliance moderated the relationship between COVID impact and adherence (R2 = 0.27, F(df1, df2) = 8.36, p < 0.001, 95% CI = 0.29–2.74), social support moderated the relationship between COVID impact and adherence (R2 = 0.19, F(df1, df2) = 5.77, p < 0.001, 95% CI = 0.47–2.77), and resilient coping moderated the relationship between COVID impact and satisfaction (R2 = 0.20, F(df1, df2) = 7.89, p < 0.001, 95% CI = 0.94–2.81). The present study provides evidence of the significant role of psychological stressors and social support in influencing CKD patients’ adherence to and satisfaction with treatment, as well as their quality of life. This article looks at the ways in which satirical postcards provided political commentary at a pivotal moment in the Franco-Russian alliance. Often overlooked as a medium of communication, turn-of-the-20th-century postcards reflected contemporary cultural values and were an important art form. Here, the focus is on postcards created by Orens and Mille, two of the best caricaturists of the day, as their work offered scathing critiques of Russia’s constant need for financial assistance from its ally and point to the ways in which the public was growing weary of these demands. Closely examining some of their postcards shows how such sentiments were expressed in visual form while also revealing the power of ephemeral materials as historical sources. Full article

This study aims to illustrate the impact of accumulated traumatic experiences in adolescence and to evaluate the potential of brief focal psychotherapy (BFP) as a treatment approach for complex trauma. We present the case of a 14-year-old boy who experienced vicarious gender-based violence, child abuse, early maternal separation without alternative secure attachment figures, and forced sudden migration. The patient exhibited symptoms consistent with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and complex trauma. The culturally sensitive intervention, delivered at a public child and adolescent mental health center, consisted of twenty weekly individual sessions of 45 min each, complemented by three 45 min psychoeducation sessions with the caregiver. The assessment was conducted using a multitrait and multi-informant approach, systematically gathering information across multiple domains of functioning (emotional–behavioral, physical, cognitive, self-perception, and relational) and from different sources (the adolescent, his mother, and the clinician) through clinical interviews, projective techniques, and parental feedback. The primary therapeutic focus was the establishment of a secure therapeutic alliance to facilitate emotional exploration and trauma processing. Following treatment, the patient demonstrated significant improvements in emotional regulation, family relationships, and school performance, as measured by both self-report and parental observations. This case highlights the potential of BFP in addressing complex trauma in adolescents, particularly during a developmental stage marked by increased vulnerability to the effects of chronic trauma exposure. The findings suggest that BFP can effectively reduce both acute symptomatology and broader psychosocial consequences associated with prolonged and cumulative trauma. Further research, particularly controlled studies and longitudinal follow-ups, is needed to refine and optimize the use of BFP by mental health professionals working with adolescents affected by complex trauma. In the face of the growing challenges of the Anthropocene—marked by climate change, biodiversity loss, and increasing rates of disease and despair—this paper explores the need for holistic solutions that integrate cultural and spiritual transformation as essential dimensions of change. Recognizing that the interconnected challenges to planetary health stem from destructive socio-political agendas and unhealthy economic structures, we underscore the importance of worldviews and value systems as root causes of social and ecological injustices. Solutions require an understanding of the complex interdependence of systems, fostering mutualistic mindsets, and healing the ‘relationship crisis’ between humans and the natural world by cultivating a deeper level of consciousness. In response to these urgent needs, we describe Earthrise—a community of engaged contemplative practice led by the Nova Institute for Health in collaboration with the Planetary Health Alliance—dedicated to spiritual and cultural transformation in the face of today’s complex crises. Through intentional spiritual relationships—with ourselves, each other, and the natural world—our community emphasizes the power of narrative co-creation in building social cohesion and collective action for environmental stewardship. Our work is not solely contemplative, but also relational and integrative—embodying values through lived practice, community, and ecological engagement. Our activities focus on developing cultural capacities and self-awareness as essential foundations for fair and sustainable social transformation. By integrating diverse perspectives, including ancestral wisdom and Indigenous knowledge systems, we enrich worldviews and deepen our connection to the planet. The Earthrise community seeks to cultivate a sense of belonging, nurturing the meaningful relationships that foster compassion and care. Central to our approach is the use of creative emergence, leveraging the arts to inspire change and catalyze new paradigms. Through this exploration of interconnected themes, we contend that spiritual and cultural transformation is vital to advancing a thriving future, where human flourishing and planetary health are understood as inseparable and interconnected goals. Embodied Conversational Agents (ECAs) serve as digital twins (DTs), visually and behaviorally mirroring human counterparts in various roles, including healthcare coaching. While existing research primarily focuses on single-coach ECAs, our work explores the benefits of multi-coach virtual health sessions, where users engage with specialized diet, physical, and cognitive coaches simultaneously. ECAs require verbal relational cues—such as empowerment, affirmation, and empathy—to foster user engagement and adherence. Our study integrates Generative AI to automate the embedding of these cues into coaching dialogues, ensuring the advice remains unchanged while enhancing delivery. We employ ChatGPT to generate empathetic and collaborative dialogues, comparing their effectiveness against manually crafted alternatives. Using three participant cohorts, we analyze user perception of the helpfulness of AI-generated versus human-generated relational cues. Additionally, we investigate whether AI-generated dialogues preserve the original advice’s semantics and whether human or automated validation better evaluates their lexical meaning. Our findings contribute to the automation of digital health coaching. Comparing ChatGPT- and human-generated dialogues for helpfulness, users rated human dialogues as more helpful, particularly for working alliance and affirmation cues, whereas AI-generated dialogues were equally effective for empowerment. By refining relational cues in AI-generated dialogues, this research paves the way for automated virtual health coaching solutions. Full article

Multiplication is an arithmetic operation that has a significant impact on the performance of several real-life applications such as digital signals, image processing, and machine learning. The main concern of electronic system designers is energy optimization with minimal penalties in terms of speed and area for designing portable devices. In this work, a very-large-scale integration (VLSI) design and delay/area performance comparison of array, Wallace tree, and radix-4 Booth multipliers was performed. This study employs different word lengths, with an emphasis on the design of floating-point multipliers. All multiplier circuits were designed and synthesized using Alliance open-source tools in 350 nm process technology with the minimum delay constraint. The findings indicate that the array multiplier has the highest delay and area for all the multiplier sizes. The Wallace multiplier exhibited the lowest delay in the mantissa multiplication of single-precision floating-point numbers. However, no significant difference was observed when compared with the double-precision floating-point multipliers. The Wallace multiplier uses the lowest area in both the single- and double-precision floating-point multipliers. Full article
