Against the backdrop of accelerating global trade and rising consumer expectations, cross-border e-commerce must urgently increase consumers’ willingness to reuse them. This study uses social exchange theory (SET) and resource dependency theory (RDT) to look at how business process reengineering (BPR) in cross-border e-commerce logistics services helps with digitalising the services, resulting in consumers being more likely to keep using the platform. The study also investigates information sharing and supply chain integration (SCI) as variables. This study used a sample of Chinese cross-border e-commerce enterprises and employed confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modelling (SEM) as analytical methods. The findings indicate a positive relationship between logistics service BPR and logistics service digitisation. Our results also show that SCI positively moderates the relationship between BPR and logistics service digitalization by enhancing cross-organizational collaboration and information flow. We further find that greater information sharing cross-border e-commerce platforms and logistics service providers strengthens SCI’s moderating effect, indicating a secondary moderating role of information sharing. This study proposes an innovative interactive perspective and, drawing on SET, constructs three models to identify the boundary conditions influencing the relationship. It provides a theoretical foundation and practical reference for cross-border e-commerce platforms seeking to optimize digital logistics services and enhance consumers’ willingness to reuse the platform. This study examines how Business Intelligence (BI) capabilities influence environmental performance (EP) in manufacturaing supply chains, with a focus on the mediating roles of Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) and Supply Chain Integration (SCI) and the moderating role of Blockchain Integration (BCI). Addressing a critical research gap in digital sustainability, particularly in emerging markets, this study integrates the Resource-Based View (RBV) theory, Natural Resource-Based View (NRBV) theory, and Dynamic Capabilities View (DCV) theory to develop a theoretically grounded framework. Data were collected via a cross-sectional survey of 231 managers in 65 firms in Jordan and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Findings reveal that while BI does not directly enhance EP, it significantly improves GSCM and SCI, which in turn mediate its influence on EP. GSCM fully mediates this relationship, while SCI provides partial mediation. BCI did not demonstrate a significant moderating effect. These results suggest that BI must be embedded within green and integrative operational systems to drive sustainability outcomes. This study contributes novel insights into how digital capabilities translate into environmental gains in underrepresented contexts and provides actionable guidance for firms and policymakers aiming to align digital transformation with environmental objectives. The global supply chain of wood products plays a key role in sustainable development and climate resilience, but remains fragmented in the academic and technical literature. This systematic review aims to synthesize research published between 2000 and 2025 on wood products’ production, transformation, trade, governance, and sustainability. A comprehensive search was conducted in multiple databases and repositories, including Scopus, FAOSTAT, ScienceDirect, DOAJ, SciELO, CAPES, EMBRAPA, and AGNIC. A total of 784 records were identified and, after applying eligibility and deduplication criteria, 119 documents were included in the final synthesis. The results reveal key thematic trends, including the dynamics of international timber trade, certification and traceability systems, logistical challenges, digitalization, and integration of forest policies. Key gaps include limited inclusion of smallholders, low technology adoption in the Global South, and fragmented governance mechanisms. The results suggest that improving sustainability in global timber supply chains requires coordinated policy frameworks, technological investment, and inclusive market systems. This review contributes a consolidated overview and offers insights for researchers, policymakers, and practitioners in the forestry sector. Full article

This study aims to explore the impact of supply chain risk (SCR) on organizational performance (OP) within the Pakistani auto sector, focusing on the mediating role of supply chain integration (SCI) and the moderating effect of demand uncertainty. The research investigates how effectively managing SCR and integrating supply chain functions can enhance organizational resilience and performance, especially in the context of a volatile market environment. A quantitative research design was employed, with data collected through self-administered questionnaires distributed to 400 supply chain managers and decision-makers in the auto industry. A total of 320 completed questionnaires were returned, resulting in a response rate of 80%. The data were analyzed using Smart PLS to test the proposed hypotheses and examine the relationships between SCR, integration, demand uncertainty, and organizational performance. This study found that SCR negatively impacts organizational performance, while SCI mediates this relationship, enhancing performance outcomes. Additionally, demand uncertainty was found to moderate the relationship between SCR and integration, highlighting the importance of flexibility and adaptability in supply chain management. All hypotheses were supported, confirming the significant role of integration and uncertainty in managing risks effectively. This study contributes to the existing literature by providing empirical evidence from a developing economy, offering valuable insights for practitioners in the automotive industry. This study is a contribution to the supply chain management literature in that it provides empirical evidence regarding supply chain integration as a mediator and demand uncertainty as a moderator of the relationship between the supply chain risk and organizational performance. Sustainable food practices are intrinsically linked to human nutrition in the preservation of the ecosystem. This study, therefore, evaluates the effectiveness, challenges, environmental impacts, and new food strategies related to plant and animal products, with a view to promoting more sustainable and healthy eating practices. The search stages were conducted using the following databases: PubMed, Science Direct, and SciElo. The studies selected included those published from 2018 to 2024 and government documents, available in English, Portuguese, and Spanish. The 34 articles analyzed in this study showed the environmental impacts related to the production of plant and animal proteins, highlighting the urgency of implementing changes in this sector. However, factors such as land use, carbon footprint, and water footprint show remarkable differences depending on the type of crop cultivated, agricultural practices adopted, and stages involved in the supply chain. As final considerations, the analysis suggests that achieving sustainability in food systems requires an integrate approach that combines the optimization of plant protein production with a reduction in environmental impacts and the development of technologies that that support the efficiency and resilience of the industry. Meeting the nutritional needs of the population in a sustainable way will only be possible through regional actions and a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities. Full article

This paper aims to systematically review and analyze the literature on green shipping, focusing on research trends, key areas, and future directions. A bibliometric analysis is conducted on 1339 articles published between 2000 and 2023, using data from the SCI-EXPANDED and SSCI core collections on the Web of Science platform. Co-occurrence analyses are performed for authors, countries, institutions, and keywords. The analysis reveals exponential growth in green shipping research over the past decade, with a significant increase since 2019. China leads in publication output and international collaboration. Key research areas identified include sustainable development, green energy, green ports, and green supply chain management. Green shipping research is rapidly expanding, emphasizing sustainable practices and technological advancements. Future research is expected to integrate artificial intelligence, big data analytics, and other advanced technologies to further promote sustainability. Strengthening international cooperation and interdisciplinary integration will be crucial for advancing the global green shipping agenda. Full article

This paper aims to examine how absorptive capacity affects supply chain integration (SCI) and service performance. The association between SCI and service performance was also studied. Data were collected from four-star and five-star hotels in Egypt. A total of 114 responses were obtained. The PLS-SEM technique and SmartPLS 4.0 software were employed for analysis. The study revealed that absorptive capacity has an impact on SCI and service performance. There is also a positive relationship between SCI and service performance. Specifically, a positive influence of internal integration and customer integration on service performance was found. However, supplier integration shows no significant relationship with service performance. This suggests that enhancing awareness of customer needs and internal coordination improves service performance. From a practical viewpoint, managers must promote a learning culture, foster innovation, and encourage internal and external collaboration. These factors were identified as key components that can improve service performance and lead to the development of competitive advantage, as shown in this paper. In addition, supply chain vitality was found to enhance quality and service, particularly when there is coordination between departments and consideration of customer needs. This study is among the earliest to examine how absorptive capacity affects both supply chain integration and service performance in the hotel industry. The research contributes at a theoretical level by shedding light on the role of absorptive capacity in the development of competitive advantage. Full article

Although the importance and benefits of logistics integration in omni-channel (OC) retailing have been discussed in the literature, the impacts of logistics integration from the dimension of internal and external logistics remain unknown. To fill this gap, this study aims to investigate the relationships among internal and external logistics integration capabilities, supply-chain integration (SCI), and financial performance (FP) in OC retailing based on the dynamic capability view. An empirical study is conducted based on a survey of 230 OC retailers in China’s market. Factor analysis and regression analysis are conducted to examine the hypotheses of the proposed conceptual model. The quantitative analyses show that the internal logistics integration capability is significantly related to the external logistics integration capability, and they both have positive effects on SCI, while the external logistics integration capability generates a higher impact (i.e., almost 1.5 times that of the internal logistics integration capability). The numerical results also demonstrate that the logistics integration capabilities and SCI have similar positive effects on FP (i.e., all the relevant regression coefficients show values around 0.25), and SCI plays a partial intermediary role in the relationships between logistics integration capabilities and FP. Furthermore, the quantitative evidence addresses the fact that the FP is not influenced by OC retailers’ characteristics, indicating a fair business environment in the OC retail industry. The purpose of this research is to examine the impact of supply chain integration (SCI), demand for halal products (DHP), halal marketing (HM), process quality improvement (PQI), food safety concerns (FSCs), and health consciousness (HC) on sustainable product performance (SPP) in the halal food industry in Malaysia. A survey was conducted with 212 respondents from Malaysian halal-certified companies, and the partial least squares (PLS-SEM) method was used for the data analysis. The findings indicate a positive and significant link between SCPI, HC, PQI, and SPP. In contrast, the findings show no significant link between HM, FSC, and SPP. DHP was found to have a negative, non-significant association with SPP. This paper concludes by discussing the implications of the findings and opportunities for future research. Full article

This study examined the association between digital transformation (DT), supply chain integration (SCI), and overall sustainable supply chain performance (OSSCP). The current literature has preliminarily explored the concepts of DT and SCI and their relationship with sustainable supply chain performance. However, real empirical evidence of the direct impact of DT and SCI on OSSCP has been missing so far. To fill this gap, data were collected from 134 professionals working in international manufacturing companies operating in Morocco through a questionnaire-based survey from August 2022 to November 2022. A conceptual framework was developed based on DT, SCI, and OSSCP and analyzed by partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) with the assistance of SmartPLS 4.0 software. The findings revealed that DT has a significant positive influence on SCI and OSSCP. Furthermore, SCI directly and positively impacts OSSCP with a partial mediation effect on the relationship between DT and OSSCP. Further, this research provides insights for practitioners into enhancing sustainable supply chain performance by adopting digital technologies and integrating SC functions. In particular, this study revealed that DT adoption drives a higher ethical supply chain level from the perspective of sustainability and efficiency in operations. This study is the first to analyze the influence of digital transformation and supply chain integration on sustainable supply chain performance in a manufacturing context. Full article

Supply chain management (SCM), which generally refers to horizontal integration management, has steadily become the core competitiveness of company rivalry and an essential approach to developing national comprehensive and national strength since the end of the 20th century due to the numerous needs arising from a competitive international economy. Manufacturers develop a community of interest by forming long-term strategic partnerships with suppliers and vendors throughout the supply chain. This paper defines supply chain management by reviewing the existing literature and discusses the current state of supply chain management research, as well as prospective research directions. Specifically, we conducted a bibliometric analysis of the influential studies of SCM in terms of various aspects, such as research areas, journals, countries/regions, institutions, authors and corresponding authors, most cited publications, and author keywords, based on the 8998 reviews and articles collected from the SCI and SSCI database of the Web of Science (WoS) between 2010 and 2020. The results show that the major research areas were Management (3071, 34.13%), Operations Research & Management Science (2680, 29.78%), and Engineering, Industrial (1854, 20.60%) with TP and TPR%. The most productive journal and institution were J. Clean Prod and Hong Kong Polytech Univ with a TP of 554 and 238, respectively. China, USA, and UK were the top three contributing countries. Furthermore, “sustainability”, “green supply chain (management)”, and “sustainable supply chain (management)” were the most popular author keywords in recent three years and since 2010, apart from the author keywords of SCM. When combined with the most cited articles in recent years, the application of block chain and Industry 4.0 in supply chain management increased rapidly and generated great attention. Full article

Long and complex supply chains are vulnerable to disruptions. One way to solve this problem is to successfully manage supply chain integration (SCI). A system dynamics simulation is thus applied to study a cheese supply chain with three individual firms: a producer, a logistics service provider (LSP), and a retailer. Our purpose is to study the effects of SCI strategies with different dimensional focuses, i.e., information integration (Scenario 1), relational integration (Scenario 2), and operational integration (Scenario 3), on the recovery of three types of disruptions, i.e., a producer capacity disruption, an LSP capacity disruption, and a demand disruption. Tests of parameter scenarios are further applied to provide solutions for supply chains using different strategies. Our results indicate that Scenario 3 is the best practice, regardless of any type of disruption, while Scenario 1 usually achieves the worst performance. This is consistent with an evolutionary perspective of supply chain integration: information integration gives firms a competitive advantage as the first step. Working as partners to share the most appropriate information leads to greater benefits. We extend this perspective by showing that further elimination of information delay helps the supply chain achieve the best performance. Full article

Built on the idea that supply chain integration (SCI) and green supply chain management (GSCM) are both multidimensional constructs, this paper empirically investigates the impact of different dimensions of SCI on different practices of GSCM and the contribution of different practices of GSCM to business performance. The aim is to uncover the distinctive role of each dimension in achieving environmental sustainability along the supply chain. A conceptual model is proposed to link supplier and customer integration to both internal GSCM within the company and external GSCM with the suppliers as well as business performance. The study is based on a survey of Chinese manufacturing companies. The results show that integration with suppliers only supports external GSCM while integration with the customer supports both internal and external GSCM. It also finds that external GSCM has no positive relationship with business performance but supports internal GSCM, which positively influences companies’ business performance. The results suggest that considering construct multidimensionality brings the opportunity of closely scrutinizing the relationships between SCI, GSCM, and business performance. Different dimensions have different effects in achieving environmental sustainability by integrating different partners along the supply chain. The separation of internal and external GSCM and the exploration of the result of the multidimensionality of the proposed constructs may be contributions to this field. The implications of supporting a green supply chain are explored. Full article

Logistics service providers (LSPs) are under tremendous pressure in the fight against global climate change. While existing research has examined the operational importance of LSPs in decarbonizing supply chains, the strategic perspective of LSPs on low carbon supply chains has not received enough attention. Motivated by the evolving role of LSPs from a service provider to a resource integrator in the supply chain, drawing on the relational view of inter-organizational competitive advantage, this paper focuses on LSPs’ low-carbon supply chain integration (SCI) and empirically investigates its drivers and outcomes. Data from 124 Chinese LSPs shows that LSPs’ corporate environmental responsibility and customer environmental requirement have positive relationships with LSPs’ low-carbon SCI, and that LSPs’ low-carbon SCI is positively related to LSPs’ environmental and financial performance. In addition, LSPs’ environmental performance is found to have a positive relationship with LSPs’ financial performance. These findings not only provide new insights for LSPs’ low-carbon supply chain initiatives, but also highlight the importance of SCI as a strategic approach in low-carbon supply chain management. A large body of literature has studied supply chain integration (SCI) at the macro (firm or dyad) level. However, the micro-foundations of SCI that highlight the range of different activities and choices firms have in implementing integration have not been studied. This paper identifies and analyzes integrative activities or practices that form the micro-units of firm-level SCI. Qualitative analysis yields nine elements of integration that emerge from the large number of integrative practices. In doing so, the paper maps out the structure of the broad SCI construct and discusses the theoretical repercussions of this new approach. New theoretical insights and research directions are identified based on this new micro-level activity-based view of SCI. This paper shifts the focus from where integration is done (customer vs. supplier integration) to what integration entails. SCI has become a very broad construct over time. This paper is a significant and systematic step in unraveling the structure of this broad conceptual domain. It improves nascent ideas about the multiple dimensions of integration by identifying elements based on a comprehensive list of different integrative activities that firms undertake. Full article
