Excessive use of fossil fuel-powered vehicles is a major problem for the entire world today, because of which greenhouse gases are increasing day by day. As a result, climate change and global warming have grown to be serious problems that affect both the environment and life on Earth. However, the effective way of reducing greenhouse gases is to use electric vehicles for commuting. The assessment and selection of the best possible way of charging an electric vehicle is a convoluted decision-making challenge due to the presence of assorted contradictory criteria. Additionally, individual decision makers’ minds and insufficient data are obstacles to doing this. In this regard, interval-valued picture fuzzy sets have been considered as a compatible tool to handle vagueness. In this paper, a multi-attribute group decision-making problem with the bidirectional projection-based VlseKriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje (VIKOR) method is considered where the weights are partially known. The objective weights of the attributes in this model are determined using the deviation-based approach. The compromised solution is also assessed using the VIKOR approach. Both the interval-valued image fuzzy Schweizer–Sklar power weighted geometric operator and the interval-valued picture fuzzy Schweizer–Sklar power weighted averaging operator are used in this process. Lastly, a numerical example showing the most suitable way to charge an electric vehicle is given to demonstrate the suggested methodology. To evaluate the robustness and efficacy of the suggested strategy, a comparative analysis with current techniques and a sensitivity analysis of the parameters are also carried out. Full article

Financial Risk Management (FRM) is crucial for organizations navigating complex and volatile economic conditions, as it aids in identifying and mitigating potential losses. Conventional FRM approaches are inadequate because they do not incorporate vagueness and variability in financial data. To overcome these challenges, this research presents interval-valued picture fuzzy measurement alternatives and rankings according to the Compromise Solution (IVPF-MARCOS) method. The IVPF-MARCOS method ranks investment strategies under uncertainty by assessing ten distinct investment options across seven key factors, including market risk and return on investment. It evidences its usefulness in enhancing decision-making, increasing accuracy in FRM, and developing Multi-Criteria Group Decision-Making (MCGDM) methodologies involving aggregation operators that are symmetric in nature. Consequently, this research establishes a compelling need to adopt improved fuzzy techniques in formulating the FRM to achieve more robust financial strategies. Full article

Solar panels hold a significant amount of importance at an industrial level because they contribute to environmental sustainability by reducing carbon emissions, contribute to cost savings through reduced electricity bills, provide energy independence and reliability, and serve as a long-term investment with attractive returns. One of the objectives of this research article is to address the limitations of the current score function utilized in multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) problems within an interval-valued picture fuzzy (IVPF) environment and to present an enhanced score function. Moreover, IVPF hybrid arithmetic operators and IVPF hybrid geometric operators are introduced in this article. These operators are further thoroughly examined to identify their key characteristics. By conducting a case study, an algorithm is formulated to select the most suitable solar panel to maximize energy availability at the industrial level in the framework of the newly proposed IVPF hybrid operators. In addition, a comprehensive comparative study is conducted to demonstrate the significance and validity of recently proposed novel techniques compared with existing methods. Full article

Symmetrical and asymmetrical information plays a critical role in resolving many issues. The implications of symmetry and asymmetry in interval-valued picture fuzzy decision-making, lie in their ability to represent and manage complex data. Decision makers approach the problem of information asymmetry through various methods. Integrating symmetric and asymmetric data in the context of a specific physical phenomenon poses significant challenges. To address these challenges, interval-valued picture fuzzy (IVPF) sets have emerged as an effective tool for managing complex data. In decision-making processes, it is essential to consider the complementary and conflicting nature of the analyzed data. This article aims to refine the shortcomings of the existing score function for Multiple Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) problems in an IVPF environment, and present an improved score function. The IVPF sets are leveraged to propose IVPF weighted arithmetic operators, IVPF ordered weighted arithmetic operators, IVPF weighted geometric operators, and IVPF ordered weighted geometric operators, which are analyzed in terms of their key features. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed score function and newly defined operators, a case study involving the selection of the best food item for manufacturing, is conducted. Additionally, a comparative analysis is established to investigate the significance of the newly defined techniques in solving decision-making problems under IVPF knowledge. Full article

Complex picture fuzzy sets are the updated version of the complex intuitionistic fuzzy sets. A complex picture fuzzy set covers three major grades such as membership, abstinence, and falsity with a prominent characteristic in which the sum of the triplet will be contained in the unit interval. In this scenario, we derive the power aggregation operators based on the Aczel–Alsina operational laws for managing the complex picture of fuzzy values. These complex picture fuzzy power aggregation operators are complex picture fuzzy Aczel–Alsina power averaging, complex picture fuzzy Aczel–Alsina weighted power averaging, complex picture fuzzy Aczel–Alsina power geometric, and complex picture fuzzy Aczel–Alsina weighted power geometric operators. We also investigate their theoretical properties. To justify these complex picture fuzzy power aggregation operators, we illustrate a procedure of a decision-making technique in the presence of complex picture fuzzy values and derive an algorithm to evaluate some multi-attribute decision-making problems. Finally, a practical example is examined to illustrate the decision-making procedure under the consideration of derived operators, and their performance is compared with that of various operators to show the supremacy and validity of the proposed approaches. Similarity measures, distance measures and entropy measures are some common tools considered to be applied to some interesting real-life phenomena including pattern recognition, decision making, medical diagnosis and clustering. Further, interval-valued picture fuzzy sets (IVPFSs) are effective and useful to describe the fuzzy information. Therefore, this manuscript aims to develop some similarity measures for IVPFSs due to the significance of describing the membership grades of picture fuzzy set in terms of intervals. Several types cosine similarity measures, cotangent similarity measures, set-theoretic and grey similarity measures, four types of dice similarity measures and generalized dice similarity measures are developed. All the developed similarity measures are validated, and their properties are demonstrated. Two well-known problems, including mineral field recognition problems and multi-attribute decision making problems, are solved using the newly developed similarity measures. The superiorities of developed similarity measures over the similarity measures of picture fuzzy sets, interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy sets and intuitionistic fuzzy sets are demonstrated through a comparison and numerical examples. Expressing the measure of uncertainty, in terms of an interval instead of a crisp number, provides improved results in fuzzy mathematics. Several such concepts are established, including the interval-valued fuzzy set, the interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy set, and the interval-valued picture fuzzy set. The goal of this article is to enhance the T-spherical fuzzy set (TSFS) by introducing the interval-valued TSFS (IVTSFS), which describes the uncertainty measure in terms of the membership, abstinence, non-membership, and the refusal degree. The novelty of the IVTSFS over the pre-existing fuzzy structures is analyzed. The basic operations are proposed for IVTSFSs and their properties are investigated. Two aggregation operators for IVTSFSs are developed, including weighted averaging and weighted geometric operators, and their validity is examined using the induction method. Several consequences of new operators, along with their comparative studies, are elaborated. A multi-attribute decision-making method in the context of IVTSFSs is developed, followed by a brief numerical example where the selection of the best policy, among a list of investment policies of a multinational company, is to be evaluated. The advantages of using the framework of IVTSFSs are described theoretically and numerically, hence showing the limitations of pre-existing aggregation operators. Full article
