This study aims to explore the effect of the e-servicescape on the emotional response and revisit intention of customers in an internet shopping mall (ISM) environment. The literature was reviewed on the e-servicescape, emotional response, and revisit intention in an internet shopping mall. A relevant model and hypothesis were established. For the empirical study, a survey form was developed and conducted on 150 customers with experience using a certain ISM. Reliability analysis and confirmatory factor analysis were performed using SPSS 27.0 and Amos 26.0 software, and the causal relationships were identified through structural equation modeling (SEM). Study results and implications were discussed and suggested. Among the factors of the e-servicescape in an ISM, aesthetics and surrounding elements did not have a significant effect on emotional responses, and spatial functionality showed a positive effect on emotional responses. Aesthetics had a weak negative effect on revisit intention. Surrounding elements and spatial functionality had no significant effect on revisit intention. The emotional response had a positive effect on revisit intention. This study identified the importance of the e-servicescape in the ISM environment and especially emphasized the importance of spatial functionality on the emotional response and aesthetics on revisit intention. This study presented several suggestions and implications to corporate managers regarding the development and management of the future ISM environment and other similar business settings. With the transformation and development of the automotive industry, low-cost and seamless indoor and outdoor positioning has become a research hotspot for modern vehicles equipped with in-vehicle infotainment systems, Internet of Vehicles, or other intelligent systems (such as Telematics Box, Autopilot, etc.). This paper analyzes modern vehicles in different configurations and proposes a low-cost, versatile indoor non-visual semantic mapping and localization solution based on low-cost sensors. Firstly, the sliding window-based semantic landmark detection method is designed to identify non-visual semantic landmarks (e.g., entrance/exit, ramp entrance/exit, road node). Then, we construct an indoor non-visual semantic map that includes the vehicle trajectory waypoints, non-visual semantic landmarks, and Wi-Fi fingerprints of RSS features. Furthermore, to estimate the position of modern vehicles in the constructed semantic maps, we proposed a graph-optimized localization method based on landmark matching that exploits the correlation between non-visual semantic landmarks. Finally, field experiments are conducted in two shopping mall scenes with different underground parking layouts to verify the proposed non-visual semantic mapping and localization method. The results show that the proposed method achieves a high accuracy of 98.1% in non-visual semantic landmark detection and a low localization error of 1.31 m. Full article

As a product of the development of e-commerce over a specific period of time, the “new retail model” breaks the barriers between the traditional retail industry and e-commerce. Supported by Internet technology, it builds a new business model of “physical store + e-commerce + logistics” through the integration of online, offline, and logistics, which also leads to a great change in consumer behavior. Therefore, in order to meet consumer demand and achieve the long-term development of shopping malls, while taking into account the fair allocation of urban space resources, the indicators and methods of shopping mall site selection evaluation in the new retail era will be significantly different from traditional shopping mall site selection decisions. In this paper, the Wuhan East Lake Hi-Tech Zone is selected as the research object, and a comprehensive AHP-GIS assessment model is proposed. By investigating the impact of consumers’ behavioral changes on shopping mall location in the new retail era, a suitability evaluation system containing eight evaluation indicators is constructed, and the weights of each factor are determined using hierarchical analysis. At the same time, GIS is used to process the spatial analysis of the indicators, and combined with the weights of the factors, superposition analysis and quantitative research are carried out. Finally, based on the correlation analysis between ratings and customer flow, the suitability evaluation results are further supported in order to provide a more objective and scientific basis for the location of shopping malls from the perspective of the change in consumer behavior under the new retail model, and to put forward universal suggestions for the construction and development of shopping malls in the future. Gun violence and mass shootings kill and injure people, create psychological trauma, damage properties, and cause economic loss. The loss from gun violence can be reduced if we can detect the gunshot early and notify the police as soon as possible. In this project, a novel gunshot detector device is developed that automatically detects indoor gunshot sound and sends the gunshot location to the nearby police station in real time using the Internet. The users of the device and the emergency responders also receive smartphone notifications whenever the shooting happens. This will help the emergency responders to quickly arrive at the crime scene, thus the shooter can be caught, injured people can be taken to the hospital quickly, and lives can be saved. The gunshot detector is an electronic device that can be placed in schools, shopping malls, offices, etc. The device also records the gunshot sounds for post-crime scene analysis. A deep learning model, based on a convolutional neural network (CNN), is trained to classify the gunshot sound from other sounds with 98% accuracy. A prototype of the gunshot detector device, the central server for the emergency responder’s station, and smartphone apps have been developed and tested successfully. Full article

The Web has provided an increasing proportion of use as a medium for e-commerce in addition to various recommender systems. It can be used for analyzing recommendation system-based feedback (e.g., a form in which a user inputs their preferences for various items as numerical values into a specific evaluation system) to estimate customer interest; in addition, analyzing multi-modal types of feedback (e.g., product purchase traces, inquiry lists, inquiry times, and comments) with deep learning can also be used to estimate user interest. As many companies around the world promote their products through micro-influencers on the Web, related research has continued to predict the purchase conversion rate of the influencer through a variety of technologies. In this work, we present a multi-modal micro-influencer analysis scheme for a marketing maximization strategy. Our scheme uses the multi-modal data stored in Mecha Solution’s own shopping mall of Korea, as well as famous Korean Internet platforms, and Coupang, Naver, and Oliveyoung’s data such as article posting comments and statistics information. By extracting the main characteristics of the real article postings from real users as opposed to those from factitious influencers posting articles and comments and identifying articles other than advertisements, influencer scores are obtained, assuming that articles other than advertisements can further increase the purchase conversion rate. Based on influencer score, we propose a multi-modal micro-influencer analysis scheme that recommends influencers use content-based collaborative filtering and user-based collaborative filtering for items that the influencer has not yet reviewed. The experiment was implemented to prove that the proposed scheme successfully achieves this goal. Full article

An exponential growth in the usage of the internet and e-commerce has led to the creation of many e-commerce retail malls. In addition to promotional schemes and prices, these e-commerce retailers use online information quality and website design to differentiate themselves from other retail players. Therefore, the objective of this research is to investigate how e-commerce information quality (information trust and information accuracy) and website design influence customer satisfaction, and how customer satisfaction subsequently influences user shopping loyalty in South Korea. Using an online survey, data were obtained from 600 users of e-commerce shopping malls in Korea. Results from structural equation modeling showed that information trust, information accuracy and website design had a positive influence on customer satisfaction, which subsequently led to user shopping loyalty. This paper has useful implications for e-commerce retail malls. One important implication is that e-commerce retailers must endeavor to provide trustworthy information, accurate information and a comfortable website design to attract and retain customers. Modern technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and physical systems used as navigation systems play an important role in locating a specific location in an unfamiliar environment. Due to recent technological developments, users can now incorporate these systems into mobile devices, which has a positive impact on the acceptance of navigational systems and the number of users who use them. The system that is used to find a specific location within a building is known as an indoor navigation system. In this study, we present a novel approach to adaptable and changeable multistory navigation systems that can be implemented in different environments such as libraries, grocery stores, shopping malls, and official buildings using facial and speech recognition with the help of voice broadcasting. We chose a library building for the experiment to help registered users find a specific book on different building floors. In the proposed system, to help the users, robots are placed on each floor of the building, communicating with each other, and with the person who needs navigational help. The proposed system uses an Android platform that consists of two separate applications: one for administration to add or remove settings and data, which in turn builds an environment map, while the second application is deployed on robots that interact with the users. The developed system was tested using two methods, namely system evaluation, and user evaluation. The evaluation of the system is based on the results of voice and face recognition by the user, and the model’s performance relies on accuracy values obtained by testing out various values for the neural network parameters. The evaluation method adopted by the proposed system achieved an accuracy of 97.92% and 97.88% for both of the tasks. The user evaluation method using the developed Android applications was tested on multi-story libraries, and the results were obtained by gathering responses from users who interacted with the applications for navigation, such as to find a specific book. Almost all the users find it useful to have robots placed on each floor of the building for giving specific directions with automatic recognition and recall of what a person is searching for. The evaluation results show that the proposed system can be implemented in different environments, which shows its effectiveness. Full article

Shopping stores are an important part of retail facilities and indispensable public facilities in a city. They are not only concentrated in shopping malls, but also distributed independently throughout the city, and often agglomerated in space. This paper attempts to measure the rationality of the spatial layout of all shopping stores in the city. Residents will visit multiple shopping stores in one trip to meet their demands. Based on this characteristic, this paper studies shopping store clusters and proposes a cluster two-step floating catchment area (C-2SFCA) method to analyze the accessibility differences of shopping stores in urban areas. Using the case of Beijing within the Fifth Ring Road, this paper implements the C-2SFCA method in a study unit of traffic analysis zones (TAZ) considering three transport modes (car, public transport, walking) with the support of real-time travel time collected from an internet map. The results show that spatial accessibility differed greatly under different transport modes and also had an uneven distribution pattern. Among these three results, the spatial variation of public transport accessibility was the highest. The results can provide references for urban planners in facility configuration and decision-making. Full article

With the development of society and information technology, people’s dependence on the Internet has gradually increased, including online shopping, downloading files, reading books, and online banking. However, how to ensure the safety and legitimacy of these network user behaviors has become the focus of attention. As we all know, cybersecurity and system resilience originate from symmetry. Due to the diversity and unpredictability of cyber-attacks, absolute cybersecurity is difficult to achieve; system resilience indicates that protecting system security should shift from resisting attacks to ensuring system continuity. The trust evaluation of network users is a research hotspot in improving network system security. Aiming at the defects of incomplete evaluation processes and inaccurate evaluation results in current online user behavior trust evaluation methods, this paper combines the basic principles of online user trust evaluation and proposes a trust evaluation model that combines fuzzy Petri nets with user behavior analysis. First, for “unfamiliar” users, we used fuzzy Petri nets to calculate the user’s recommended trust value as the system’s indirect trust value; next, we used the user’s behavior record as evidence to conduct direct trust evaluation on the user to obtain the system’s direct trust in the user’s value; finally, the two calculation results were combined to obtain the user’s comprehensive trust value. In terms of experimental verification, the experimental data came from a self-developed e-book management system. Through theoretical analysis and simulation results, it was shown that the model met the optimization conditions of subjective and objective relative balance, the evaluation process was more complete, and the trust evaluation values of network users could be obtained more accurately. This evaluation method provides solid theory and research ideas for user credibility judgment of key network basic application platforms such as online shopping malls, online transactions, and online banking. The development of the Internet of Things (IoT) has accelerated research in indoor navigation systems, a majority of which rely on adequate wireless signals and sources. Nonetheless, deploying such a system requires periodic site-survey, which is time consuming and labor intensive. To address this issue, in this paper we present Canoe, an indoor navigation system that considers shopping mall scenarios. In our system, we do not assume any prior knowledge, such as floor-plan or the shop locations, access point placement or power settings, historical RSS measurements or fingerprints, etc. Instead, Canoe requires only that the shop owners collect and publish RSS values at the entrances of their shops and can direct a consumer to any of these shops by comparing the observed RSS values. The locations of the consumers and the shops are estimated using maximum likelihood estimation. In doing this, the direction of the target shop relative to the current orientation of the consumer can be precisely computed, such that the direction that a consumer should move can be determined. We have conducted extensive simulations using a real-world dataset. Our experiments in a real shopping mall demonstrate that if 50% of the shops publish their RSS values, Canoe can precisely navigate a consumer within 30 s, with an error rate below 9%. Full article

Indoor positioning technologies have been widely studied with a number of solutions being proposed, yet substantial applications and services are still fairly primitive. Taking advantage of the emerging concept of the connected car, the popularity of smartphones and mobile Internet, and precise indoor locations, this study presents the development of a novel intelligent parking service called iParking. With the iParking service, multiple parties such as users, parking facilities and service providers are connected through Internet in a distributed architecture. The client software is a light-weight application running on a smartphone, and it works essentially based on a precise indoor positioning solution, which fuses Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) signals and the measurements of the built-in sensors of the smartphones. The positioning accuracy, availability and reliability of the proposed positioning solution are adequate for facilitating the novel parking service. An iParking prototype has been developed and demonstrated in a real parking environment at a shopping mall. The demonstration showed how the iParking service could improve the parking experience and increase the efficiency of parking facilities. The iParking is a novel service in terms of cost- and energy-efficient solution. Full article
