Based on the theoretical framework of systems thinking, this study investigates the mechanism of systems thinking in promoting entrepreneurial persistence among technology entrepreneurs in China’s digital economy development. From a dynamic complex systems perspective, 409 technology entrepreneurs from China, were measured using the systems thinking scale, the psychological ownership scale, the resource bricolage scale, and the entrepreneurial persistence scale. Systems thinking among technology entrepreneurs has been found to enhance entrepreneurial persistence significantly. Psychological ownership of technology entrepreneurs partially mediates the process of systems thinking influencing entrepreneurial persistence. Resource bricolage positively moderates the systems thinking process, influencing entrepreneurial persistence among technology entrepreneurs. This study innovatively introduces systems thinking into the field of technology entrepreneurship, reveals the relationship between systems thinking and entrepreneurial persistence of technology entrepreneurs, and provides theoretical guidance for Chinese technology entrepreneurs to enhance entrepreneurial persistence through systems thinking. Entrepreneurial resources are crucial to the success of ventures in underdeveloped regions. Leveraging limited resources to enhance entrepreneurial effectiveness and contribute to poverty alleviation through entrepreneurship has attracted significant academic interest. In this study, a conceptual model is developed, incorporating resource bricolage, entrepreneurial involvement, entrepreneurial action learning, and entrepreneurial behavior. Through an empirical analysis of data collected from 230 startup founders in the Wuling Mountain Area, the results indicate that resource bricolage positively influences entrepreneurial behavior, while entrepreneurial involvement partially mediates the relationship between resource bricolage and entrepreneurial behavior. However, the findings also suggest that entrepreneurial action learning negatively moderates the relationship between resource bricolage and entrepreneurial involvement and that entrepreneurial involvement exerts a significant moderated mediation effect on the relationship between resource bricolage and entrepreneurial behavior. This study advances our understanding of resource bricolage and its implication for the resource environment in underdeveloped regions, providing valuable insights into how entrepreneurs can effectively adapt to resource-constrained settings. The application of digital technology in China’s rural areas has triggered a brand-new allocation of agricultural factors, posing challenges to the sustainable growth of entrepreneurial income. Using empowerment theory and entrepreneurial process theory, this paper explores the mediating role of entrepreneurial alertness and resource bricolage in the relationship between digital capabilities and the sustainable growth of entrepreneurial income. Using questionnaire survey data from 490 farmer entrepreneurs in China, this paper empirically tests the effect of digital capabilities on the sustainable growth of entrepreneurial income through a multiple regression model. The findings show that: (1) digital capabilities have a significant positive effect on the sustainable increase in entrepreneurial income; (2) digital applicational capabilities and digital innovation capabilities can affect the sustainable increase in entrepreneurial income through the intermediary paths of entrepreneurial alertness and resource bricolage; and (3) digital capabilities have a more significant positive impact on the sustained growth of entrepreneurial income for young farmers and those with professional work experience in large cities who embark on farming entrepreneurship. This paper reveals the effect of digital technology when embedded in the entrepreneurial process. It also provides a theoretical reference and empirical support for the government to formulate reasonable entrepreneurial policies and offers new paths and solutions to promote sustainable entrepreneurial development through digital capabilities. In the era of digital economy, digital literacy plays an important role in the process of enabling farmers’ entrepreneurship with digital technology. However, there are few studies in the literature on the impact and mechanism of digital literacy on farmers’ entrepreneurial performance. From the perspective of digital literacy, combining high-level theory and resource-based theory, this paper constructed a chain intermediary model of “digital literacy–entrepreneurial bricolage–entrepreneurial opportunity identification–entrepreneurial performance” based on the logical chain of “resource–opportunity–performance”. A hierarchical regression analysis and bootstrap method were used to analyze 308 samples of effective entrepreneurial farmers. The results show the following: (1) Digital literacy has a significant positive impact on the entrepreneurial performance of rural households. (2) Entrepreneurial bricolage and entrepreneurial opportunity identification play an intermediary role between rural households’ digital literacy and entrepreneurial performance. (3) There is a chain mediating effect of “digital literacy–entrepreneurial bricolage–entrepreneurial opportunity identification–entrepreneurial performance”. The research conclusions can broaden the research on the pre-influencing factors of farmers’ entrepreneurial performance and the driving effect of digital literacy and provide enlightenment on how to promote the improvement of farmers’ entrepreneurial performance and rural social and economic sustainable development. Entrepreneurial teams are seen as pilots with which to steer growth in new ventures. However, there is currently a lack of studies exploring how they work under conditions of uncertainty. Based on the upper echelons theory and institutional theory, this study aims to reveal the role of entrepreneurial teams in new venture resilience through a questionnaire survey. Based on the data of 549 valid respondents, we find that resource bricolage is the key factor in new venture resilience, for which entrepreneurial team autonomy management governance is the most effective means. Specifically, (1) Entrepreneurial team profit-sharing governance and management autonomy governance significantly improve new venture resilience, whereas equity governance does not. (2) All the assessed means of entrepreneurial team contractual governance positively stimulate resource bricolage, with management autonomy governance playing the greatest role. (3) Resource bricolage significantly promotes new venture resilience and plays a complete mediating role in the relationship between equity governance and organizational resilience, and also plays a partial mediating role in the relationships of profit-sharing governance and management autonomy governance in regard to organizational resilience. These results suggest that entrepreneurial teams should prioritize authorizing further management rights to encourage team members to take on additional responsibilities, which could improve the resource bricolage capacities of new ventures and thus strengthen their resilience in tackling struggles. In the cross-border e-commerce industry, millions of small and medium-sized sellers have emerged in recent years. With the empowerment of the Internet platform, these grassroots entrepreneurs, which are generally disadvantaged in terms of resources, capabilities, costs, etc., have overcome a number of barriers and acquired more equitable participation opportunities in the fierce market competition. This study explores the performance improvement mechanism of platform empowerment for grassroots entrepreneurs and tests the mediating effect of resource bricolage. After descriptive statistical analysis, applying the common method variance test, and reliability and validity verification of the 336 valid questionnaire sample data, a path analysis of the structural equation model and an intermediary effect test were conducted. The results indicated that the structural empowerment of the platform could significantly and positively improve the entrepreneurial performance of grassroots entrepreneurs, while the psychological empowerment of the platform has no significant effect. In addition, the resource bricolage played a completely mediating role in the impact of platform empowerment on entrepreneurial performance. By deepening our understanding of the platform empowerment mechanism and grassroots entrepreneurs’ resource bricolage behavior, this study provided guidance and reference for the platform to better play its empowerment role and for the grassroots entrepreneurs to achieve their own growth. Redundant resources are indispensable resources in corporate entrepreneurship. Nowadays, establishing how to evaluate the impact of redundant resources on corporate entrepreneurial performance has become a critical issue considered by managers. However, few studies have addressed this issue. Based on the perspective of resource bricolage and corporate resource interaction, this work constructs a theoretical model to analyze the influence of redundant resources on corporate entrepreneurial performance. Data were collected in Chinese enterprises. A structural equation modeling (SEM) technique was used. We obtained four valuable conclusions. First, redundant resources have a significant positive effect on corporate entrepreneurial performance. Second, redundant resources exert a significant positive influence on resource bricolage. Third, resource bricolage has a significant positive influence on corporate entrepreneurial performance. Fourth, resource bricolage plays a partial mediation effect between redundant resources and corporate entrepreneurial performance. The insights can provide theoretical and practical guidance for enterprises that intend to use redundant resources to carry out entrepreneurial activities. Full article

In the wake of the current socio-economic crisis, discovering an effective strategy for managing uncertainty and successful reallocation of resources became key to ensuring sustainable economic performance. More recent evidence pointed to the entrepreneurial leadership style as an effective means for engaging employees in a more proactive pursuit of organizational goals. This article introduces a novel approach to sustainable economic performance during the COVID-19 pandemic considering entrepreneurial leadership, entrepreneurial bricolage, and job insecurity. The empirical study was performed on a sample of 410 employees from Croatian organizations working in different industries during the COVID outbreak. The study results reveal that entrepreneurial leadership positively impacts sustainable economic performance but does not lead to decreased job insecurity. Expectedly, job insecurity was found to have a negative effect on sustainable economic performance. The results confirmed a positive influence of entrepreneurial bricolage on sustainable economic performance, which is in line with existing literature. However, the moderating effect of entrepreneurial bricolage on the relationship between entrepreneurial leadership and job insecurity was not significant. The findings suggest that companies can sustain their performance or even thrive under entrepreneurial leadership. The study lays the groundwork for further investigation on how entrepreneurial leaders can influence followers’ creative self-efficacy to decrease job uncertainty and prevent fear-induced hindrances, such as organizational deviance and turnover intention in the context of the pandemic. There are a lot of slack resources in a company. It is vitally important for an enterprise to use slack resources to identify entrepreneurial opportunities to establish company sustainable development. On the basis of the resource orchestration theory and from resource-opportunity perspective, this paper constructs a framework of slack resources and entrepreneurial opportunity identification, exploring the mediating of resource bricolage, the moderating of network ties, and the moderated mediation of network ties. In our analyses, we used data from companies in eastern China, and statistical hypotheses were validated through a structural equation model with data using the statistical software Amos version 20, SPSS version 22. The research results show that: (1) Absorbed slack resources and unabsorbed slack resources have a positive impact on entrepreneurial opportunity identification. (2) Slack resources indirectly affect the opportunity identification through the mediating role of resource bricolage. Among them, resource bricolage has a fully mediating role between absorbed slack resources and entrepreneurial opportunity identification, and it has a partial mediating role between unabsorbed slack resources and entrepreneurial opportunity identification. (3) Business ties positively moderate the relationship between two types of slack resources and entrepreneurial opportunity identification, and business ties moderate the mediation effect of resource bricolage. The resource-opportunity perspective answers how decisions are made, and the entire model process answers how to create sustainable value (entrepreneurship opportunities). The study guides managers on how to integrate and use external and internal resources, coordinate resource elements, and identify profitable business opportunities. Full article
