Post-disaster emergency perishable material distribution is an essential part of emergency relief, which is of great significance to reducing disaster losses and casualties and improving rescue efficiency. However, in actual rescue, the demand information of disaster sites is often complex to determine, and the demand for emergency perishable materials needs to be clarified. Therefore, the single-cycle distribution makes it difficult to meet the demand for emergency perishable materials at disaster sites. To effectively improve the efficiency of emergency relief, this paper constructs a distribution optimization model with a multi-cycle vehicle path and the dual objectives of minimizing the distribution delay penalty and corruption cost and minimizing the unsatisfied demand. Initially, the fuzzy demand is addressed through the application of triangular fuzzy numbers and the most probable value weighting method. Following this, a two-stage optimization algorithm is devised by integrating the K-means++ algorithm with an enhanced Differential Evolutionary Whale Optimization Algorithm (DE-WOA). This algorithm operates by first clustering the affected points and subsequently solving the multi-objective model, thereby providing a robust methodology and strategic recommendations for the distribution of perishable materials across diverse scenarios. Our study reveals that the multi-objective model developed in this paper exhibits remarkable operability and practicality in the distribution of post-disaster emergency perishable materials, as evidenced by the verification via numerical examples. Through a comparison with the single-stage whale optimization algorithm, it is evident that the enhanced two-stage differential evolutionary whale optimization algorithm not only demonstrates a substantially faster convergence rate and a superior solution quality but also proves to be more suitably adapted to the proposed model. Significantly, the overall optimization performance has been augmented by 33%, thereby providing further substantiation of the efficacy of the designed improved algorithm. Full article

Welding stands as a critical focus for the intelligent and digital transformation of the machinery industry, with automated laser welding playing a pivotal role in the sector’s technological advancement. The management of welding deformation in such operations is fundamental, relying on advanced analysis and prediction methods. The endeavor to accurately analyze welding deformation in practical applications is compounded by the interplay of numerous variables, a pronounced coupling effect among these factors, and a reliance on expert intuition. Thus, effective deformation control in automated laser welding operations necessitates the gathering of pre-test laser welding data to develop a predictive approach that accurately reflects real-world conditions and is characterized by improved reliability and stability. To address the technological evolution in automated laser welding, a predictive model based on neural network technology is proposed to map the intricate relationship between process variables and the resulting deformation. At the heart of this approach is the formulation of a predictive model utilizing a back-propagation neural network (BP), with an emphasis on four essential welding parameters: speed, peak power, duty cycle, and defocusing amount. The model’s predictive accuracy is then honed through the application of the whale optimization algorithm (WOA) and the differential evolutionary (DE) algorithm. Finally, extensive testing in an automated laser welding experimental setup is conducted to validate the accuracy and reliability of the proposed prediction model. It is demonstrated through these experiments that the deformation prediction model, enhanced by the DEWOA-BP neural network, accurately forecasts the relationship between laser welding parameters and the induced deformation, maintaining a prediction error margin of ±0.1mm. The model is employed to fulfill the requirements for a pre-welding quality evaluation, thereby facilitating a more calculated and informed approach to welding operations. This method of intelligent prediction is not only crucial for the intelligent transformation of laser welding but also holds significant implications for traditional machining technologies such as milling, grinding, and spraying. It offers innovative ideas and methods that are pivotal for the industrial revolution and technological advancement of the traditional machining industry. Full article

The distribution of emergency perishable materials after a disaster, such as an earthquake, is an essential part of emergency resource dispatching. However, the traditional single-period distribution model can hardly solve this problem because of incomplete demand information for emergency perishable materials in affected sites. Therefore, for such problems we firstly construct a multi-period vehicle path distribution optimization model with the dual objectives of minimizing the cost penalty of distribution delay and the total corruption during delivery, and minimizing the total amount of demand that is not met, by applying the interval boundary and most likely value weighting method to make uncertain demand clear. Then, we formulate the differential evolutionary whale optimization algorithm (DE-WOA) combing the differential evolutionary algorithm with the whale algorithm to solve the constructed model, which is an up-and-coming algorithm for solving this type of problem. Finally, to validate the feasibility and practicality of the proposed model and the novel algorithm, a comparison between the proposed model and the standard whale optimization algorithm is performed on a numerical instance. The result indicates the proposed model converges faster and the overall optimization effect is improved by 23%, which further verifies that the improved whale optimization algorithm has better performance. Bag-of-Tasks (BoT) scheduling over cloud computing resources called Cloud Bag-of-Tasks Scheduling (CBS) problem, which is a well-known NP-hard optimization problem. Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA) is an effective method for CBS problems, which still requires further improvement in exploration ability, solution diversity, convergence speed, and ensuring adequate exploration–exploitation tradeoff to produce superior scheduling solutions. In order to remove WOA limitations, a hybrid oppositional differential evolution-enabled WOA (called h-DEWOA) approach is introduced to tackle CBS problems to minimize workload makespan and energy consumption. The proposed h-DEWOA incorporates chaotic maps, opposition-based learning (OBL), differential evolution (DE), and a fitness-based balancing mechanism into the standard WOA method, resulting in enhanced exploration, faster convergence, and adequate exploration–exploitation tradeoff throughout the algorithm execution. Besides this, an efficient allocation heuristic is added to the h-DEWOA method to improve resource assignment. CEA-Curie and HPC2N real cloud workloads are used for performance evaluation of scheduling algorithms using the CloudSim simulator. Two series of experiments have been conducted for performance comparison: one with WOA-based heuristics and another with non-WOA-based metaheuristics. Experimental results of the first series of experiments reveal that the h-DEWOA approach results in makespan improvement in the range of 5.79–13.38% (for CEA-Curie workloads), 5.03–13.80% (for HPC2N workloads), and energy consumption in the range of 3.21–14.70% (for CEA-Curie workloads) and 10.84–19.30% (for HPC2N workloads) over well-known WOA-based metaheuristics. Similarly, h-DEWOA also resulted in significant performance in comparison with recent state-of-the-art non-WOA-based metaheuristics in the second series of experiments. Statistical tests and box plots also revealed the robustness of the proposed h-DEWOA algorithm. Full article
