Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

During the past three decades, we have accumulated significant observational evidence concerning the interaction of jets from AGNs with the interstellar/intracluster media of their host galaxies and clusters. Recent radio surveys have started to extend to higher redshifts the available sample of relativistic jets propagating into the IGM, opening windows on the AGN–galaxies–IGM co-evolution and mutual feedback.

Nonetheless, the theoretical modeling of these phenomena is not free of ambiguities. The self-similar model by (among others) Kaiser and Alexander (1997) does not provide a unique reference for this complex phenomenology, and numerical modeling is challenging due to the large range of spatial and temporal scales involved, from accretion scales having sizes of few hundreds Astronomical Units up to Megaparsec scales.

The present Special Issue of Universe aims at collecting contributions on all these open issues. In addition to standard articles, we would like to solicit critical contributions and medium-sized review papers presenting original views, and also on the fluid mechanics of jet–ISM/IGM interactions, the mechanisms of jet generation from accretion disks, the interactions with BAL and NLR clouds, and the new observational aspects both for nearby and higher redshifts AGNs.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Universe is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
