About Sustainable Packaging
Aims
Sustainable Packaging (ISSN: 3043-176X) is an international, peer-reviewed, open access journal, which covers all aspects of sustainable packaging science and novel technologies. The journal publishes original research articles, reviews, and communications in the field. Our aim is to encourage scientists to publish their cutting-edge theoretical and experimental results in as much detail as possible. Therefore, the journal has no restriction on the maximum length of the papers.
Scope
The scope of the journal includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Sustainable packaging design, materials, and systems—process efficiency, source of materials, and waste reduction;
- Packaging technology and material properties, including processing technologies, converting technologies, barrier performance, mechanical properties, sealing performance, and functional material behavior;
- Bio-based and renewable packaging solutions—e.g., bio-based raw materials, fiber‑based materials, and hybrid bio‑materials;
- Smart packaging technologies—e.g., active and intelligent packaging systems for quality monitoring, safety, and extended product life;
- Sector‑specific packaging applications—food, pharmaceutical and healthcare, cosmetics and personal care, medical devices, industrial and chemical products, transport and logistics, and electronics packaging;
- End-of-life management—recyclability, compostability, and biodegradability of packaging materials;
- Bioeconomy and circular economy approaches in packaging;
- Life cycle assessment (LCA), environmental footprint and sustainability metrics in the packaging industry;
- Legal aspects and compliance, including food contact compliance, regulatory frameworks, labeling requirements, and other packaging-related legal considerations;
- Consumer perception and acceptance, including consumer understanding, purchasing behavior, usability, communication of sustainability claims, and the perception of sustainable packaging concepts in the market.
