Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Dissolved ozone flotation (DOF) is a hybrid process that combines two methods of treatment, dissolved air flotation (DAF) and ozonation, in one treatment process. The substitution of the carrier gas (air into ozone) makes it possible to obtain two treatment processes in one unit. The first one is separation of solids and flocks by gas bubbles, and the second is oxida­tion of soluble organic compounds by ozone. The synergy of these two processes allows obtaining a superior treatment effect.

DOF implementation has many positive effects, such as decreasing the dosage of reagents compared to DAF, removal of micropollutants and patho­gens or improvement of wastewater biodegradability. However, this technology has its weaknesses related to the cost of ozone production and its low and slow solubility in water, which may be barriers to industrial application, and which should promptly be eliminated.

This Special Issue is mainly focused on “Water and Wastewater Treatment by Dissolved Ozone Flotation”. Submissions are welcome but not limited to the topics listed below. Types of contributions welcome in this Special Issue are full research articles, short communications, and reviews.

Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Oxygen is an international peer-reviewed open access quarterly journal published by MDPI.

Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
