Recruiting Editorial Board Members for Osteology


Osteology (ISSN: 2673-4036) is an international, peer-reviewed, open access journal devoted to basic and clinical research regarding bone science. Specifically, this journal is interested in original research on bone-related diseases and their molecular mechanisms, biological and physiological research on bone, interactions of bone with other organ systems, bone biomaterials, as well as methodological advances in osteology.

We especially welcome scholars with expertise in the following areas:

  • Musculoskeletal disorders;
  • Molecular mechanisms of bone and bone-related diseases;
  • Interactions of bone with other organ systems;
  • Biological and physiological research on bone, cartilage, joints, and spine;
  • Clinical studies: implants; orthopedic surgery; interactions of bone with prostheses;
  • Methodological advances in osteology;
  • Bone biomaterials;
  • Bone mechanics;
  • Orthopedic sports medicine.

Application eligibility:
Individuals are eligible to apply for the role of Editorial Board Member if they meet the following conditions:

  • They have completed their doctorate/PhD degree;
  • They have published impactful work in the field of orthopedics;
  • They currently (at the time of application) hold the position of senior lecturer, associate professor, or professor in academia;
  • They are actively engaged in their community (e.g., experienced in presenting at conferences or involved in professional organizations).

The main responsibilities of Editorial Board Members are as follows:

  • Pre-screening and making decisions on new submissions related to their research interests;
  • Organizing at least one Special Issue during their term on a topic related to their research interests (or supervising Special Issues related to their research field);
  • Helping to attract suitable expert authors;
  • Providing input or feedback regarding journal policies;
  • Helping to promote the journal among peers or at conferences;
  • Attending Board meetings to suggest journal development strategies;
  • Reviewing manuscripts.
