About Inflammation Journal

Aims

Inflammation Journal (ISSN 3043-0348) is an international, peer-reviewed, and open-access journal dedicated to publishing high-quality research across the entire spectrum of inflammation science. It provides a multidisciplinary platform for comprehensive reviews, original research articles, short communications, perspectives, and case reports. Inflammation Journal focuses on the pathogenesis, progression, regulation, and resolution of both acute and chronic inflammation, including infectious and non-infectious inflammatory responses, the crosstalk between inflammation and immunity, as well as the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of inflammation-related diseases, animal models of inflammation, and the development of anti-inflammatory agents. It integrates basic research, clinical studies, and translational research in fields such as pathology, immunology, pharmacology, neuroscience, molecular biology, and clinical medicine.

Inflammation Journal is committed to disseminating rigorous, impactful research that addresses unmet needs in the field, challenges existing paradigms, and contributes to improving human and animal health worldwide.

Inflammation Journal encourages scientists to publish their experimental and theoretical results in as much detail as possible. Therefore, there is no restriction on the maximum length of the papers. Full experimental details must be provided so that the results can be reproduced. We strongly encourage the publication of complete datasets and experimental controls as supplementary material.

Scope

The journal welcomes submissions covering all aspects of inflammation, including, but not limited to, the following:

1. Basic Mechanisms of Inflammation

   - Cellular and molecular pathways of inflammatory responses (e.g., cytokine networks, chemokines, inflammasomes, toll-like receptors, NF-κB signaling, pyroptosis, ferroptosis, necroptosis);

   - Innate and adaptive immune cell contributions to inflammation (e.g., neutrophils, macrophages, dendritic cells, T cells, B cells, mast cells);

   - Regulatory mechanisms of inflammation (e.g., anti-inflammatory signaling, resolution pathways, autophagy, metabolic regulation, epigenetic modifications, microRNAs, long non-coding RNAs);

   - Developmental and homeostatic roles of inflammation.

2. Inflammation in Pathophysiology

   - Inflammatory basis of chronic and acute diseases (e.g., cardiovascular diseases, metabolic disorders [obesity, diabetes], autoimmune diseases [rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, multiple sclerosis], neurodegenerative diseases [Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease], cancer, respiratory diseases [asthma, COPD, pneumonia], gastrointestinal diseases [IBD, gastritis], hepatic and renal diseases, skin disorders);

   - Inflammation in infection (viral, bacterial, fungal, parasitic infections) and host–pathogen interactions;

   - Inflammation in tissue injury, repair, fibrosis, and regeneration;

   - Systemic inflammation (sepsis, systemic inflammatory response syndrome [SIRS]) and multi-organ crosstalk;

   - Inflammation in aging and age-related disorders.

3. Translational and Clinical Research

   - Biomarkers of inflammation (discovery, validation, and clinical utility);

   - Novel therapeutic strategies for inflammation-related diseases (e.g., anti-inflammatory drugs, biologics, cell therapies, gene therapies, nanomedicines);

   - Clinical trials evaluating anti-inflammatory interventions;

   - Diagnostic tools and imaging techniques for inflammatory disorders;

   - Personalized medicine and precision approaches to managing inflammation.

4. Interdisciplinary and Emerging Areas

   - Environmental and lifestyle determinants of inflammation (e.g., diet, exercise, pollution, stress, sleep);

   - Inflammation in veterinary medicine and animal models;

   - Computational and systems biology approaches to studying inflammation (e.g., bioinformatics, mathematical modeling, single-cell sequencing, multi-omics [genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics]);

   - Ethical and public health implications of inflammation research.

All submissions are evaluated based on their originality, scientific rigor, clarity, and relevance to the journal’s aims and scope.
