About Biosphere
Aims
Biosphere (ISSN 3042-6111) is a peer-reviewed, open access journal, which provides an international platform for publishing advances in scientific understanding of ecosystems and ability to project their future conditions for sustainable management and stewardship of global ecosystem.
By bringing together the insights of researchers worldwide, Biosphere will facilitate scientific advancements by publishing high-quality research on biosphere interactions, processes, and sustainability. The journal emphasizes biodiversity, global change, and the interconnected roles of the lithosphere, atmosphere, and hydrosphere in creating favorable conditions for life.
With no restriction on the maximum length of the papers, Biosphere publishes reviews, regular research papers, special issues, topical collections, communications, editorials, and short notes. As a transdisciplinary journal, Biosphere encourages authors to provide comprehensive experimental and methodological details to ensure reproducibility and facilitate application by scientists and practitioners.
Scope
The scope of this journal includes, but is not limited to, the following areas:
- Ecosystem science and dynamics: Studying the structure, function, and dynamics of various ecosystems, focusing on nutrient cycling, ecosystem services and resilience .
- Biodiversity conservation: Studying patterns, drivers, and strategies for maintaining, restoring, and protecting biodiversity, as well as the impacts of biodiversity loss.
- Global change and environmental adaptation: Analyzing the effects of climate change, pollution, land use changes, and other factors on the biosphere, along with ecosystem responses and adaptation mechanisms.
- Biogeochemical cycles: Exploring carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus cycling, investigating human-induced changes in biogeochemical fluxes.
- Innovative methods: Remote sensing, bioinformatics, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) techniques, ecological modeling, and data assimilation for monitoring and projecting changes in the biosphere, and for management and stewardship of ecosystems.
- Human activities and ecological impacts: Investigating how anthropogenic pressures affect the biosphere, including urbanization, agricultural expansion, and resource extraction and management.
- Sustainable development: Exploring strategies and practices for achieving environmental sustainability alongside socio-economic development.
- Policy and education: Science–policy links, public engagement, and environmental awareness.
