Journal of Clinical Medicine 2024 Editorial Board Meeting of the Section “Pulmonology” Held on 28 February 2024


The Journal of Clinical Medicine (JCM, ISSN: 2077-0383) held an Editorial Board Meeting for the Section “Pulmonology” on 28 February 2024. We appreciate the Section Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Sukhwinder Singh Sohal, for hosting this meeting; there were seven Editorial Board Members in attendance.

The meeting started with a presentation about the development of the journal, as well as the Section “Pulmonology”, with the following information being presented:

  • The journal’s history, publication statistics, distribution of scholars (2018–2023), the benefits of open access, journal awards, conference sponsorship, and promotion on social media;
  • The geographical distribution of the Section’s Editorial Board Members, decision-making statistics, and Section statistics.

The meeting chaired by Dr. Sukhwinder Singh Sohal mainly addressed the following points:

  • To set up targets that would bring the journal into the Q1 category;
  • Authors: balancing the scholar distribution from all over the world, consideration of various views on one topic from scholars from different disciplines, and suggestions on Author Contribution Form;
  • Manuscript processing: Academic Editors' decisions, paper lengths, the reviewer quality and checking database, reviewer vouchers, and acceptance/rejection rate;
  • Article type: in addition to original articles, comprehensive review papers and guidelines will be encouraged;
  • Hot topics: emerging topics in pulmonology (e.g., the minimally invasive application of AI), lung cancer screening, rare pulmonary diseases, cystic fibrosis, biomarkers, treatable traits, COPD, the pathogenesis of pulmonary fibrosis, fibrosis in general, etc.;
  • Section Editorial Board: invitation of board members from different skills or fields in pulmonology and deeper EBM communications via online meetings/emails/offline meetings;
  • Conferences/meetings: the proposal of an offline board meeting for board members during the ERS conference and suggestions on a COPD convention in November.

We would like to thank every Editorial Board Member and contributing academics for their support. We look forward to receiving more suggestions so that we can continue our progress together.

The latest official CiteScore (2022 Scopus data) for the Journal of Clinical Medicine is 5.4, ranking 137/830 (Q1) in the “General Medicine” category. The current Impact Factor of JCM is 3.9 (2022), ranking 58/167 (Q2) in the “Medicine, General & Internal” category.
