Feature papers represent the most advanced research with significant potential for high impact in the field. A Feature Paper should be a substantial original Article that involves several techniques or approaches, provides an outlook for future research directions and describes possible research applications.
Feature papers are submitted upon individual invitation or recommendation by the scientific editors and must receive positive feedback from the reviewers.
Editor’s Choice articles are based on recommendations by the scientific editors of MDPI journals from around the world. Editors select a small number of articles recently published in the journal that they believe will be particularly interesting to readers, or important in the respective research area. The aim is to provide a snapshot of some of the most exciting work published in the various research areas of the journal.

MDPI acquired Tomography (ISSN 2379-1381) in January 2021 from Grapho Publications who launched the title in 2015 as a unique imaging journal publishing peer-reviewed articles across all aspects of imaging science, from general research to clinical trials. Its aim is the integration of imaging modalities to address biologically important and clinically relevant questions in order to facilitate rapid scientific and clinical advancements.
Published studies involve the development and evaluation of novel imaging probes including optical, nuclear, ultrasound, MR-contrast and hyperpolarized agents along with image-based feedback of interventions. Studies may use single or multiple imaging modalities including CT, US, PET, SPECT, MR and hyperpolarization technologies, as well as optical modalities (i.e., bioluminescence, photoacoustic, endomicroscopy, fiber optic imaging and optical computed tomography) in basic sciences, engineering, preclinical and clinical medicine.
Tomography is going to be published quarterly online by MDPI beginning with Volume 7, Issue 1 in March 2021. All articles will be published in immediate open access using a CC-BY license. Coverage in indexing services includes MEDLINE (PubMed/National Library of Medicine), the Science Citation Index Expanded (Web of Science), Journal Citation Reports and Scopus. Tomography's 2019 Impact Factor is 1.308.
MDPI is glad to be a new home for Tomography and we look forward to seeing the journal thrive for years to come. The goal is to greatly expand the journal's global reach in order to become one of the world’s leading imaging journals.
