Journal of Clinical Medicine | Summary of the 2026 Editorial Board Meetings of the “Hematology” Section

Journal of Clinical Medicine (JCM, ISSN: 2077-0383) held an Editorial Board meeting for the “Hematology” Section across two sessions on 30 March and 8 April 2026. We greatly appreciate the Section Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Carlo Finelli, for hosting these two meetings, which were attended by 21 Editorial Board Members in total. We thank the members for their strong support. We have gotten many more suggestions and hope to work together to boost the journal and Section’s development. We also welcome members who are unable to attend the meetings to share their suggestions and ideas with the JCM Editorial Office (jcm@mdpi.com) or Deputy Managing Editors (dme-jcm@mdpi.com) at any time. We are glad to invite you to review this event.

The meeting started with a presentation about the development of the journal, as well as the Section “Hematology” in particular and the following information was presented:

  • JCM’s 2025 performance data, distribution of authors and Editorial Board Members, editorial procedure details, and paper promotion channels;
  • JCM’s diverse marketing activities, including conference sponsorship, free online webinars, virtual conferences (IOCCM 2026), social media accounts, awards, society collaborations, and academic publishing workshop;
  • Basic data of the “Hematology” Section, including the most popular publications and Special Issues within recent two years, the most active member, and an overview of the Section Members.

The following topics were discussed at the Editorial Board meetings:

  • Refining the journal’s strategic direction and defining its target audience more precisely;
  • Expanding the Editorial Board to include more new members. A larger and more geographically diverse membership would enhance the journal’s visibility and encourage more submissions;
  • Taking measures to increase the journal’s impact factor, such as inviting well-established researchers to contribute papers on trending topics, which could significantly improve citation performance;
  • Emphasizing the importance of interdisciplinary content and emerging fields of artificial intelligence;
  • Focusing on attracting young researchers, prioritizing their needs and expectations, developing periodic development strategies, building distinctive features, and boosting appeal through differentiated content and supporting services;
  • Members who expressed interest in our Academic Publishing Workshops and had positive suggestions;
  • A member who participated in the management of Special Issue also shared his experience;
  • Strengthening the support and guidance for young researchers who have difficulties in the publishing process. We hope to provide a more supportive, easy-to-use platform and to welcome young researchers’ long-term participation.
