Nanomaterials | Summary of the 2026 Editorial Board Meeting of the “Synthesis, Interfaces and Nanostructures” Section

The journal Nanomaterials (ISSN: 2079-4991) recently held an online Editorial Board meeting for the Section “Synthesis, Interfaces and Nanostructures”. The meeting was hosted by the Section Editor-in-Chief, Prof. Dr. Paolo Scrimin, and nine Editorial Board Members were in attendance. We sincerely thank everyone for joining and providing thoughtful comments, and we look forward to welcoming more members to future meetings.

The following topics were reviewed and discussed during the meeting:

  • An overview of the Section’s annual report, detailing hot topic metrics and the current distribution of the Editorial Board;
  • The positive post-pandemic trajectory of the journal and its increased appeal to submitting authors;
  • The continued importance of active Editorial Board engagement in supporting internal editorial staff and guiding the future direction of the journal;
  • Strategies to address inappropriate reviewer comments, such as irrelevant citation suggestions or redundant grammar checks that lack scientific criticism, including the potential to establish a means for authors to flag these issues;
  • The need for authors to provide robust literature reviews with adequate citations in the “Introduction” and “Discussion” Sections.
