Feature papers represent the most advanced research with significant potential for high impact in the field. A Feature Paper should be a substantial original Article that involves several techniques or approaches, provides an outlook for future research directions and describes possible research applications.
Feature papers are submitted upon individual invitation or recommendation by the scientific editors and must receive positive feedback from the reviewers.
Editor’s Choice articles are based on recommendations by the scientific editors of MDPI journals from around the world. Editors select a small number of articles recently published in the journal that they believe will be particularly interesting to readers, or important in the respective research area. The aim is to provide a snapshot of some of the most exciting work published in the various research areas of the journal.

The 2024 CiteScore metrics have now been released in Scopus, and the results reflect a strong year for MDPI's journals. Nearly 90% of our Scopus-ranked titles are now placed in Q1 or Q2 of their subjects, with many showing steady growth in citations and increased visibility across their fields. It's encouraging to see this recognition of the work being done by our editorial teams, authors, and reviewers.
This year, a total of 322 MDPI journals received a CiteScore, up from 274 journals last year. Of these, 283 journals (88%) are ranked above average (placed in Q1 or Q2) in at least one of their assigned subject areas, with 39 titles now positioned in the top 10% of their fields. Among the 274 journals previously ranked, 237 (approximately 85%) received a higher CiteScore compared to last year—an encouraging sign of continued growth and impact.
We’re also pleased to share that 48 MDPI journals received a CiteScore for the first time, marking a key milestone in their development. We'd like to thank everyone who contributed to this year's success, and we look forward to continuing to support our community in sharing meaningful, high-quality research.
