Publisher’s Note: A New Chapter for the International Journal of Orofacial Myology and Myofunctional Therapy (IJOM)—Continued Publication by MDPI

The International Journal of Orofacial Myology and Myofunctional Therapy (IJOM) has been an important part of the orofacial myology field since its establishment in 1975. Originally launched as the International Journal of Oral Myology, the journal has evolved over time to reflect the expanding scope of research in orofacial myofunctional therapy. While the acronym IJOM remains, the journal’s content and focus have adapted to meet the needs of the field [1].

In 2020, IJOM embraced an open access publication model, allowing its valuable research and findings to be accessible to all members of the International Association of Orofacial Myology (IAOM) and the broader scholarly community.

The mission of IJOM is to advance the research and scientific study of orofacial myofunctional disorders while providing educational resources across a variety of disciplines involved in their related therapies [2].

For many years, the journal has been self-published by the IAOM. Starting with Volume 51, Issue 1, in 2025, IJOM will be published by MDPI, marking an exciting new chapter in the journal’s history [3].

MDPI is fully committed to supporting IAOM and IJOM in serving both the scientific community and clinicians by publishing high-quality, open access, and peer-reviewed articles. Together we aim to achieve the journal’s goals of becoming the preferred platform for scientific content on orofacial myology and myofunctional disorders.

We would like to extend a warm welcome to all Editorial Board Members, IAOM members, and authors. We look forward to IJOM becoming a leading platform for sharing advances in the field of orofacial and myofunctional therapy.
