The Effects of Proton and Photon Radiation Therapy on the Development of Pediatric Dermatitis
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
Comments and Suggestions for AuthorsDear authors,
Your work presents just statistical data with a description since no hypotheses are present. The tables are difficult to read and analyze in general. If possible, please modify the data representation using diagrams and graphs.
It would be nice to have the raw data available for the readers with metadata where possible, such as what type of cancer was present, what dose was applied, etc.
'mass less' should be massless
I do not see a reason not to publish the work, as it provides new data to the scientific community.
Author Response
Thank you very much for taking the time to review this manuscript. Please find the detailed responses below and the corresponding revisions highlighted in the resubmitted file.
Comment 1: The tables are difficult to read and analyze in general. If possible, please modify the data representation using diagrams and graphs.
Response 1: Thank you for pointing this out. We agree with this comment. Therefore, we have separated table 1 into paragraph and table form. We have also made table 2 and 3 into bar graphs for easier interpretation.
Comment 2: It would be nice to have the raw data available for the readers with metadata where possible, such as what type of cancer was present, what dose was applied, etc.
Response 2: Thank you for pointing this out. We are in the process of providing the raw data.
Comment 3: 'mass less' should be massless.
Response 3: Thank you for pointing this out. We agree with this comment. Therefore, we have changed mass less to massless in section 1, paragraph 2, sentence 1.

Comments and Suggestions for AuthorsReviewer’s report Title:
The Effects of Proton and Photon Radiation Therapy on the Development of Pediatric Dermatitis
Reviewer's report: This manuscript is well written and easy to understand. Authors had used appropriate test to find out significance between groups. The goal of the study is properly addressed to determine the incidence of radiation 3 induced dermatitis (RID) among children receiving proton and photon therapies.
After reading the manuscript, I recommend some minor revision.
Minor revision
1) In section 2 materials and methods, authors need to explain in manuscript text how many patients received total dose and fractionated dose for photon or proton therapy.
2) In section 2, please include the information on which software used for statistical analysis?
3) In section 3 Results, authors says that 24 patients were excluded from analysis due to missing data, you can give some information on examples of missing data that helps to understand reason for exclusion from the analysis.
4) In section 3.5, Authors need to provide some explanation on what resolution of is symptoms are.
Author Response
Thank you very much for taking the time to review this manuscript. Please find the detailed responses below and the corresponding revisions highlighted in the resubmitted file.
Comment 1: In section 2 materials and methods, authors need to explain in manuscript text how many patients received total dose and fractionated dose for photon or proton therapy.
Response 1: Thank you for pointing this out. We agree with this comment. Therefore, we have added how many patients received total dose and fractionated dose for photon or proton therapy in section 2, paragraph 2, sentence 2.
Comment 2: In section 2, please include the information on which software used for statistical analysis?
Response 2: Thank you for pointing this out. We agree with this comment. Therefore, we have added which software was used for statistical analysis in section 2, paragraph 3, sentence 2.
Comment 3: In section 3 Results, authors says that 24 patients were excluded from analysis due to missing data, you can give some information on examples of missing data that helps to understand reason for exclusion from the analysis.
Response 3: Thank you for pointing this out. We agree with this comment. Therefore, we have added examples of missing information causing data exclusion in section 3, subsection 1, sentence 1.
Comment 4: In section 3.5, Authors need to provide some explanation on what resolution of is symptoms are.
Response 4: Thank you for pointing this out. We agree with this comment. Therefore, we have added an explanation of dermatitis symptom resolution in section 3, subsection 5, sentence 2.
