Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Important and relevant paper with interesting results

It would be useful to add more explanation on how the questionnaire survey was distributed, what risks were identified in each distribution channel and how they were mitigated.

Reviewer 2 Report

The research project is clearly explained and operationalized. The results are interesting and contribute to the literature. The discussion of the results are engaging and thoughtful. The conclusion and speculation about the public's doubts about the media coverage of the war is somewhat superficial and does not sufficiently address the geopolitical context and history that is a relevant factor affecting public attitudes regarding the mainstream media coverage of the war. The main deficiency of the article is the introduction and initial literature review. It is too unsophisticated to warrant publication as is. The current level of academic discourse regarding the role of the media in a democracy as well as the nature, and impact of propaganda are much more nuanced than this manuscript currently provides.
