Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Firstly, I would like to congratulate the authors for their work. This review is well-designed and has merit. It will be of interest to our readers. However, it has certain issues that need to be addressed. My comments are as follows:

The authors evaluated the current evidence for the effectiveness of Ginseng, Rutina and Moringa for treating erectile dysfunction. Seven RCTs were included in this review. No studies on Rutina and Moringa alone matched the inclusion criteria. The patient group treated with Ginseng reported an improvement of erectile function compared to the control groups.

Introduction: What was your hypothesis before conducting the review? Please mention in 2-3 lines at the end of the Introduction section.

Methods: Well-written. No changes are needed.

Results: Please follow the PRISMA guidelines correctly. Please update Fig. 1 as per the PRISMA guidelines- depicting all four cardinal steps of search strategy, i.e. identification, screening, eligibility and inclusion.

Discussion: Well-written. No changes are needed.

-Please provide a small paragraph of recommendations based on the findings of this systematic review.

Introduction: What was your hypothesis before conducting the review? Please mention in 2-3 lines at the end of the Introduction section.

Response:

We thank the reviewer for the comment, our hypothesis was to assess whether the use of ginseng with rutina and moringa may improve the erectile function with or without the use of PDE5 inhibitors. We wanted to evaluate the current literature on the three different treatments. We developed the hypothesis in line ….of the introduction for the final manuscript.

What new information brings your article in the literature. There are some important findings that can improve the clinical and management of ED?

Response:

We thank the reviewer for the comment, there are some findings that might be worth the attention. First, Ginseng appears to be safe and effective in the initial management of mild ED, being a useful tool in the hands of the clinician especially for patients that are reluctant to start a proper pharmacologic therapy. The use of “alternative medicine” needs to be embraced in the current clinical practice as the patient’s willingness is growing toward that direction. Secondly this review underlines the lack of studies evaluating the effects of Moringa and Rutina on ED, a lack that might be addressed in the future and can be a food for thought for new research.

- Punctuations reviews are necessary;

We thank the reviewer for the comment, we addressed the problem in the latest version of the manuscript.
