Dear Editor and Authors

Suggestions for corrections are in the attached text.

  1. This information is material and methods and may not appear here.

Answer: We have corrected this.

  1. Are you sure it's a 3x6 factorial? Where 3 conservation methods, and 7 days of the avaliation.

1 - Zero

2- Two

3 - Four

4 - Six

5 - Eight

6 - Ten

7 - Twelve

Answer: It is a 3x7 factorial. 3 types of packaging and 7 storage periods.

  1. What would N be? Unit of measurement in Newton? Must describe.

Answer: That's right, N is the acronym for the unit of measurement in Newton. We set it on first use.

  1. The writing of the methodology used must be improved, it must be described.

Answer: We have improved the writing of the methodology section.

  1. Mention the statistical methodology used. What is the version of the R program? Cite the estatisit program.

Answer: We improve the writing of the statistical methodology and cite the software used.

  1. This statement cannot be confirmed. A table is missing, where it can be placed: the means of each conservation method, Tukey's minimum significant difference, the p-values of the method (M), evaluation period (E) and interaction (MxE), the coefficients of variation, general media and others.

Answer: We inserted an ANOVA Table for the different variables studied for each of the fruits.

  1. Wrong text formatting. Include in the magazine's standards.

Answer: We include all citations and references in the journal's guidelines.

  1. The p-value should appear. A Tukey MSD should appear.

Answer: We include the p-value and Tukey MSD in the Tables and Figures, respectively.

  1. Standardize the way data is presented. In one figure the averages appear (Figure 8A), and in the other they do not appear (Figure 8B). Do this with the other figures.

Answer: We have corrected all Figures and Tables and their respective descriptions.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

The work "Post-Harvest Conservation of Cagaita (Stenocalyx dysentericus), Seriguela (Spondias purpurea), Mangaba (Hancornia speciosa) and Pitomba (Talisia esculenta) in Semiarid Regions" is interesting; Attention is required from the authors on some minor points:
Line 84: Change "1 C" to "1 °C".
Line 188: Change "CVP" to "PVC"
In Figures 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, the legend of the estimated regression equations must be corrected, that is, it must match the description in the figure caption.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

The manuscript "Post-Harvest Conservation of Cagaita (Stenocalyx dysentericus), Seriguela (Spondias purpurea), Mangaba (Hancornia speciosa) and Pitomba (Talisia esculenta) in Semiarid Regions" is devoted to extending the shelf life of rare fruits and has great practical significance and prospects for the use of the obtained research and results. Authors should pay attention to the following points:

Abstract The abstract should be short 200 words maximum. You should reduce the general information and add specific numerical indicators: the percentage reduction in mass loss, as well as for reducing hardness loss and other indicators.

Please check the Latin spelling of the plant species (use the full name (in italic) with an abbreviated reference to the work in which the species was first described in the scientific literature eg Stenocalyx dysentericus (DC.) O.Berg, Talisia esculenta Radlk.). Correct the title of the manuscript, too.

Add the names of fruits and materials to Keywords.

There is now quite a lot of information on the use of the films for storing fruits and vegetables, so I believe that the Introduction section should be expanded. Also indicate the pros and cons of using these two materials (article doi: 10.1111/jfpp.15068 will help you). I also recommend indicating the shelf life of all fruits being studied.

Line 67 Please provide a reference to the classification.

Line 69 Check and change “from November to January for cagaita”

Line 84 Explain why you chose a storage temperature of 13°C?

Line 119 Check and change “There was a significant interaction between the factors (days of storage and packaging)…”

Figure 1 Please indicate that the data presented in the figure refers to fruits without packaging (control).

Table 1 Indicate in the legend or text before the table what the C.V. designation means. Indicate in the title of the table on which day of storage the measurements were taken.

It would be more logical to combine Figures 1 and 2 with Table 1 and present the data in the form of graphs of changes in indicators for all 3 experimental options, if you have the corresponding measurements from days 1 to 12 of storage.

Lines 187-188 Assess the feasibility of using film coverings for storing kagayta. Is it possible to sell fruits so quickly (5 days) and will it be profitable? There is no need to provide an economic assessment, but simply to assess the prospects.

Table 2 Please present data for the different fruits studied in the same format (either similar tables or figures), if possible. The same applies to Fig. 8, table. 3 etc. This will reduce the volume of text and make it more structured. Also indicate the day of measurement.

Please use one of designations for control variants (without packaging) in the text. You use the following ones: Unpacked, SE, Unpackaged.

In the Conclusions section, indicate numerical indicators of improvement in the quality of fruits of each of the studied species, indicate the periods for which it is possible to extend storage in the best packaging option. Give a brief assessment of the prospects of using packaging to popularize these crops and how packaging can contribute to this.

Also evaluate the potential harm of packaging to the environment (you can also translate this information in the Introduction section).

Comments on the Quality of English Language

Line 37 Please change “avidity” to “demand”. It’s more appropriate.

Line 51 Check and change “…packages available for packing…”

Line 70 Please change “The ripening point of the fruits at harvest was:...” to “Fruits were considered ripe and ready for harvest when they had the following characteristics:…”.

Lines 273-274 Check and change “All packages showed an increasing linear trend (of soluble solids content) during the days of storage…”

Line 304 Check and change “decrase”

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

The authors have done a great job of improving the manuscript, but I recommend making a few more changes:

Please change the title of the manuscript to “Post-Harvest fruit Conservation of Eugenia dysenterica DC., Spondias purpurea L., Hancornia speciosa Gomes and Talisia esculenta Radlk.”

Avoid duplicating keywords and terms used in the title of the manuscript. Therefore, I recommend removing the Latin names of plants from the keywords and adding “Cagaita, Seriguela, Mangaba and Pitomba” words.

Line 23 Add a period at the end of the sentence “…were analyzed.

Line 102 Check the formatting of the Subsection 2.2.

Line 110 “…which is the refrigeration standard for preserving commercial fruits [?].” Provide references.

Please move Table 1, 2, 3, 4 to the Appendices. The statistical nuances of the calculation in this case are not the main information. It is enough to indicate the average values of the parameters, deviations from the average and the letter designation of the difference between the options (in fig. 2).

Fig. 2, 4, 6, 8 Please add “Letters indicate significant differences among treatment and control samples (p < 0.05)”, specify standard deviations.

Line 254 Please rephrase “Total soluble solids in seriguela fruits increased with increasing storage period…”

Line 272 Check and change “Spondias tuberosa Arruda”
