1. Conference Introduction

This conference volume presents the proceedings of the Faculty of Health Sciences: 8th Annual Research Day (FHS Research Day 2025), held at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Limpopo, from 17 to 18 September 2025. The conference was intended to create a dynamic platform for exchanging scientific insights, building professional networks, and engaging in meaningful discussions on advancing universal health coverage, particularly in the African context. The conference served as a forum for examining the challenges and opportunities regarding implementing National Health Insurance (NHI) in South Africa while advocating for inclusive health solutions that cut across gender, race, geographic location, and ethnicity.
