Comments and Suggestions for Authors

The study applies common tools; it is well-documented; and presents a comprehensive insight into the factors that influence the safety performance of the analyzed community.

It is recommended to conclude the discussion with a table showing in some fashion the strengths and weaknesses of the correlations so that a reader gets a more comprehensive overview.

It is further recommended to make a comparison with similar studies of other communities because the current study does not make clear why leadership has little influence. On the other hand, it is mentioned for example that safety training is an important factor; this, however, is the result of a management decision to have the safety training organized. So, there may be no management involvement in direct safety-stimulating activities, indirectly they create a favorable infrastructure. So, some further explanation is desirable.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

This manuscript explores the influence of Safety Management Systems (SMS) on safety performance in Nigerian power and electricity distribution companies, using the Input-Process-Output (IPO) model. The study provides insights into occupational safety management, particularly in high-risk industries in developing economies. Below are some comments:

  1. In the abstract, the authors should avoid citing sources.
  2. In the introduction section, a stronger research gap should be established. The claim that SMS implementation in the P&E sector is underreported requires more evidence.
  3. In lines 112-117, clearly explain what the research ultimately aims to achieve.
  4. In the literature review, clearly state the limitations of previous studies and describe how this study addresses those limitations.
  5. In the underpinning theory of the study (2.7), this section is more like a methodological explanation and should be moved to the Materials and Methods section.
  6. In the research design (3.1), explain the research method step by step clearly.
  7. In section 3.2, include details on the response rate.
  8. In lines 534-535, the table you mentioned cannot be found. Ensure that the mentioned table is included and properly referenced.
  9. In the data analysis (3.5), briefly describe each analysis method and write the analysis method more clearly (e.g., what data was used for each analysis, what is the procedure for each analysis, what test method was used for each analysis, etc.).
  10. In the common method variance (4.2), this analysis is not mentioned in the Materials and Methods section. Ensure that it is properly introduced and justified.
  11. In the discussion section, provide a visual representation to make it easier to see whether there is a significant relationship or not between the variables mentioned.
  12. In the discussion section, compare the results of this study with past studies. Were any results surprising? How do they align or contrast with findings from other industries or geographical regions?
  13. In the Managerial Implications (6.1) and Theoretical Implications (6.2), summarize your contribution. The conclusion section is too long.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

Thank you for your responses. They are more than adequate, particularly those in the discussion. It shows the intertwining of the various parameters.

On line 46 of v.2.0, you wrote: "4.18 trillion US dollars to the gross domestic product (GDP) of every country". That should be: 4.18 trillion US dollars to the gross domestic product (GDP) of all countries together", or "4.18 trillion US dollars to the accumulated gross domestic product (GDP) of countries."
