Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The authors performed a comprehensive review on desiccant technologies for improving air quality. The research is interesting and the reviewer suggests minor revision by addressing the following concerns.

1. The logic of this article need to be improved.

2. Several recent publications, such as Model development of heat/mass transfer for internally cooled dehumidifier concerning liquid film shrinkage shape and contact angles, Numerical study of the effect of nasopharynx airway obstruction on the transport and deposition of nanoparticles in nasal airways, Computational Modeling of Fiber Transport in Human Respiratory Airways – A Review, and Review on air and water thermal energy storage of buildings with phase change materials, etc should be considered.

3. There is one mistake in line 461.

The manuscript should be edited by a native English speaker.

Reviewer 2 Report

The paper analysed air dehumidification by means of desiccant wheel focusing the attention on software for component selection.

The authors focused the attention on softwares available from manufacturers that give data (input, output) on the desiccant wheel component only. There are other softwares in which it could be included a desiccant wheel model such as TRNSYS, ESP, Modelica. The authors should expand the analysis to these simulations software already able to perform the analysis that they would like to be included in desiccant manufacturer software.

The authors should better specify why the desiccant technology can better satisfy the IAQ requirements in comparison with “mechanical dehumidification” based system.

In many parts of the paper the reference is missing appearing the sentence “Error! Reference source not found.”
