Saudi Expert Consensus-Based Autism Spectrum Disorder Statement: From Screening to Management
Highlights
- There is a need for expert consensus on standards for the assessment and management of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in Saudi Arabia.
- A specialized diagnostic assessment by a multidisciplinary team is necessary for children referred for ASD assessment.
- Longitudinal assessments are encouraged to track the effects of symptoms on functioning in various settings.
- Individualized, developmentally appropriate, and intensive interventions, along with parental involvement, are key to optimal outcomes for individuals with ASD.
