Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Dear Authors,

I fund your manuscript very well written and informative. It provides history, current status and potential future benefits for medicinal leeches.

Author Response

We appreciate the positive Evaluation of our manuscript by the reviewer.

Reviewer 2 Report

The review "European Medicinal Leeches – New Roles in Modern Medicine" is interesting, however, the bibliography is very old. There are only eight / 66 references included in the 2016-2019 period, which makes the document poorly usable for current applications.

Author Response

We thank the reviewer for the constructive recommendation to expand the number of references, particularly with more recent literature. I total we inserted 38 further references of which the majority was published between 2016-2019.

The inserted references and the modifications in the text have been labelled in red.

Round 2

Reviewer 2 Report

I thank the authors for answering my questions and including the bibliography
