Comments and Suggestions for Authors

Thank you for letting me review your work. It was interesting to read and I enjoyed learning from your study. The purpose of this manuscript was to review the implementation of an MOOC both during the pandemic and after the pandemic in terms of the H-MOOC framework. The authors chose to not only compare the MOOC to the H-MOOC framework, but also completed teacher observations, a survey, and interviews. My main criticism, as seen in the PDF with tracked comments, was the lack of clarity surround the study parameters and discussion about the pandemic. I do understand that the study coincided with 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 school year; however, there are many statements written that are simply not true about the implementation of hybrid learning strategies. In addition, the authors attempt to frame a narrative that there will be a difference in implementation/perceptions during school shutdowns and after campus openings when in fact the research did not support this argument. As such, I believe that this should be edited to either provide more of an explanation for the research findings or a different narrative for the comparison of these two school years. Additionally, care should be placed in wordings that make it sound as if online learning and hybrid learning were "new" strategies that originated during 2020-2021 school year. This is not the case but the authors describe these strategies as if hybrid learning was a novel affect of the pandemic. This should also be clarified.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

- Specify MOOC use before, during, and after the pandemic, including the technologies employed.

- Clarify whether the analysis focuses on the pandemic, post-pandemic, or both.

- Incorporate current research and make comparisons with similar studies.

- Include and consider how factors such as internet access and digital inequalities influence MOOC use.

- Include examples or cases that demonstrate the complementary use of MOOCs with other strategies.
