Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

1) Avoid using acronyms in the keywords. Instead of "MDAO", use "Multidisciplinary Design Analysis and Optimization".

2) Provide a list of contributions and give sufficient evidences to support your claim.

3) Some figures are from other publications. Make sure that you are not violating the copyright, and have required permissions to reuse them (Figures 4 and 5).

4) Is the optimization problem (46) convex? That is, does it have only one and unique optimum? How can one make sure about the convexity of the problem?

5) It is not clear of the optimization problem (46) should be solved online or offline. Report the computing time of the optimization process.

6) What optimization method has been used to solve the optimization problem? The optimization problem (46) fits well in the context of primal-dual gradient flow method; whether this method has been used or not, I highly recommend the authors to mention in a remark that the primal-dual method discussed in [R1]-[R3] can be used to solve the optimization problem (46) to address possible computing issue.
