Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The authors Yarong Chen et al. use a laser melting deposition device. They use the medium-high temperature anneal strategy to reduce the holding time, the effect of the holding temperature and holding time on the residual stress. They show that the residual stress on the surface is reduced after the annealing treatment. Its an interesting article and it should be published.

Thank you very much for your careful review and constructive suggestions with regard to our manuscript. Those comments are all valuable and very helpful for revising and improving our paper, as well as the important guiding significance to our researches.

I cannot find the wavelength and the type of the 5 kW laser used. There should be more information in the capture of figure 2.2 Is it a cw YAG laser ?

Thank you very much for your useful comment and suggestions. Taking your suggestion into consideration, we have updated the information on laser types and wavelengths. The type is fiber laser, with a wavelength is 1070±10nm (line 65~66).

line 86 – move the heading to the next page

Thank you very much for your useful comment and suggestions. Taking your suggestion into consideration, we have moved the heading to the next page (line 86).

line 261 to 267 – missing space between numerical data and unit 700°C, 550°C….

Thank you very much for your useful comment. Taking your suggestion into consideration, we have checked the missing space in whole paper, including the sentence you mentioned. (lines 198 to 199, lines 208, 210, 213, lines 264 to 270).

line 285 – parenthesis is missing (as shown in Fig. 14)

Thank you very much for your useful comment. Taking your suggestion into consideration, we have added the missing parenthesis in line 288.

Reviewer 3 Report

The paper presented by the authors is interesting for the scientific community. In this work, the authors present experimental, original research, with the aim of increasing the efficiency of obtaining some components from titanium alloys and improving their quality characteristics through thermal treatments. The authors produced several Ti-6Al-4V ingots by high power laser melt deposition (HP-LMD).

The authors have established the optimal values of the annealing heat treatment parameters, applied to the Ti-6Al-4V alloy, so that both the structure and the properties of the alloy are improved.

The properties of residual stress on the surface of the material, yield strength and elongation were studied.

The work is very well done, the research is complete and the final conclusions are complete and correct.

The paper presents 33 bibliographical references, sufficient considering the nature of the research, most of them being from recent years. The paper contains a number of 14 figures and 3 tables.

The similarity test gave a result of 31%, representing taken from 73 various sources on the internet

Thank you very much for your careful review and constructive suggestions with regard to our manuscript. Those comments are all valuable and very helpful for revising and improving our paper, as well as the important guiding significance to our researches.

A well-written work devoted to the description of the influence of the annealing process on the high-power laser melting deposited (HP-LMD)titanium alloys. However, a lot of corrections related to the style and grammar of English language used need to be made. For example:

Thank you very much for your careful review and constructive suggestions with regard to our manuscript. We are sorry for our carelessness. Based on your comments, we have made the corrections to make the unit harmonized within the whole manuscript.

Line 64  - is „schematic” instead of scheme .

Thank you very much for your useful comment and suggestions. Taking your suggestion into consideration, we have changed “scheme” to “schematic” in line 64.

Lines 68, 208 – in brackets, the sentences should not start with capital letters.

Thank you very much for your useful comment and suggestions. Taking your suggestion into consideration, we have checked the mistakes carefully and revised them (line 68, line188, line 208, line 263).

Line 68 – is „scanning electron microscope” instead of scanning electron microscope image or picture (same in Fig.2 caption).

Thank you very much for your useful comment and suggestions. Taking your suggestion into consideration, we have changed “scanning electron microscop” to “scanning electron microscop image” in line 68.

Line 112 - it is worth considering the citation of the Kirch's work.

Thank you very much for your useful comment and suggestions. Taking your suggestion into consideration, we have decided to change the Kirch's work to „T. Wu, S. Degener, S. Tinkloh, A. Liehr, W. Zinn, J. Nobre, T. Tröster, T. Niendorf. Characterization of Residual Stresses in Fiber Metal Laminate Interfaces – A Combined Approach Applying Hole-Drilling Method and Energy-Dispersive X-Ray Diffraction. Compos. 2022, 299, 116071.” in line 107 and line 116.

Lines 125,126,130,131,132153,182,206 – correction of grammar and style is needed (for instance change “a” to “the”, and a like – please recheck the whole paper.

Thank you very much for your useful comment and suggestions. Taking your suggestion into consideration, we have checked the whole paper and corrected the grammar and style carefully.

Lines 296, 313 – capital letters in the middle of the sentence

Thank you very much for your useful comment and suggestions. Taking your suggestion into consideration, we have revised the capitalization error in lines 296, and line 313.
