Manuscript deals with the doping of Cr ions in PEO coatings on the aluminium surface. The Manuscript is well written but needs improvement in the following areas.
1. Abstract is very generic. It should contain some salient experimental methods and findings. Kindly rewrite.
2. Kindly avoid using abbreviated forms in the abstract or provide its expanded form there itself (Eg. R1 and R2).
3. "However, the proposed method has various limitations for successful practical application". Such negative statements in abstract is not advisable. Kindly remove.
4. Introduction section lacks depth. Almost 50 % of the cited papers are very older literature. Authors should replace them with recently published papers (preferably last 5 years). 5. Mention the Bragg's angle, scan rate, and other relevant parameters during XRD analysis.
6. Kindly provide the expanded form during the first usage of any abbreviated form. For eg. in section 2.3 "PL and XRL". Check for the same throughout the manuscript.
7. Morphology of doped coating needs further explanation (Figure 1)
8. If figure 2 represents the XRD peaks of coated samples, why no coated elements were identified? Kindly explain.
9. Figures 3 and 4 are of very poor quality. Kindly redraw those graphs and replace them with images of better resolution.
10. Section 3 has to be entirely rewritten. Images and their relevant discussions are completely shuffled and the readability of the section is very poor.
11. Need of the current experiment has not been elaborated anywhere in the manuscript. Available content is insufficient to portray the novelty of the work.
12. Conclusion section is not portraying the experimental findings. It has to be entirely rewritten.

The paper "Chromium luminescence in plasma electrolytic oxidation coatings on aluminum surface" is suitable for publication in the Coatings journal after some minor corrections. The authors presented an interesting study regarding Al2O3 oxides obtained by PEO under varied conditions.
Aspects that need to be revised:
-in introduction, extra information regarding the influence of Al2O3 in terms of microstructure and mechanical properties, performed by other research groups. 18-21) are not enough.
-XRD parameters are missing;
-scale bar of Figure 1 is not clear;
If figures 3 and 4 are not clear, take into account the cost of replacing them;
The rest is OK.

Zolotarjovs and co-workers reported the title of “Chromium Luminescence in Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation Coatings on Aluminum Surface”, which the experimental is carefully conducted, and the results have been presented correctly, and the contents fall well into the scope of the journal. I recommend the publication of this paper after minor revision :
1. The pixel from Figure 3 to Figure 5 should be improved. The current pixel is too low to see clearly.
