Comments and Suggestions for Authors

Minor notes:

159: The Jesuits did not wish to sing it in the choir by ourselves, but 160 prescribed it to members of the sodalities they founded (Maňas 2008, 102–43).

I am not aware that in the mentioned source there is a claim of it, perhaps I understand this sentence not fully. But generally, I would not dare to claim that sodalities were obliged to pray the office of hours.

Regarding chapter 3.7 I recommend considering the typical structure of hymnodiae (cantiones for missae feriales).

Thank you very much for taking the time to review this manuscript.

I am deleting the sentence concerning the practice of the office of hours: this should refer to the boarding schools.

Thank you also for information about HYMNODIAE Sub Sacrum a Studiosa Juventute decantari solita and Your article about it!

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

I am not knowledgeable about Silesian religious culture and am therefore unable to comment on the factual research content of this paper, so I must trust the author's authority. However I find its theoretical and analytical content clear and valid. It is perhaps a shame that the author does not reference much ethnomusicology, for comparisons with other cultures could then be drawn--which would support the unsupported claims of universality made near the outset. For example Kofi Agawu's "African Rhythm" A Northern Ewe Perspective" explains a very similar kind of structure in Ewe culture, namely a nested configuration of cyclic norms affecting life at numerous scales.

Author Response

Thank you very much for taking the time to review this manuscript. I am very thankful for all your editorial corrections and suggestions. A reference to the ethnomusicological approach is marked by only one quotation PhD (by Kristin D. Mann); more thorough comparison would require extended studies.
