Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Formula (9) for tangential force should be mathematically clean and correct. I.e., Fs on the left side must be somehow distinguished from Fs on the right side - otherwise, the expression is false Fs=Fs+.. ? (one cannot use the expression as in programmed code).

For the following formula (10) on page 6, Fs and Fn should be indexed by the symbol i when they are in sum (it is obvious what the authors want to express by the formula, but the mathematical formula must be formally precise and strictly exact).

The formulae on page 14 (Lindqvist, 1989) need to be renumbered - (10) is already on page 6.

For Figures 8 and 9, it is not explained why some comparisons are presented with the same time (11 s #102 and 12 s #202), while other comparisons have different times on the x-axis for numerical model testing and model testing (why?).

  • This topic comes under the purview of the journal. However, the current version of the manuscript can be published by adding a few more in-text references in the introduction section.

  • The figures supplement the text and provide fantastic depth.

  • Make the conclusion part succinct, concise, and linked.

A file with recommendations has been uploaded in the Journal JMSE

Comments for author File: Comments.pdf

Some typos and rewordings have been pointed out. A final "whole text" reading is suggested also.

Round 2

Reviewer 1 Report

I have no further comments.

Reviewer 3 Report

The authors have corrected most of the indications, so I consider that after some minor English Grammar review, the article could be published

Only a small reviewing of the final text is recommended.
