Spatial Evolution, Driving Mechanism, and Patch Prediction of Grain-Producing Cultivated Land in China
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
The manuscript is well written. Adequate and advanced statistical and mathematical tools were used. The result are reliable. The paper is good. It regards environmentally and economically important topic of land-use changes in time. Just 5 minor edits should be done. These specific remarks arr:
Line 13: „GIS” please resolve the acronym when used for the first time.
Line 87: „CA model” – please resolve the acronym.
Lina 105: same for „FOM”
Fig. 3 – lacking Y-axis label
Lines 301-302: the exponents must be in superscript.

Thank you for your positive comments on our work and your valuable comments on our manuscript, which we have revised based on your suggestions as follows:
Line 13: "GIS" Please resolve acronyms on first use.
Line 87: "CA Model" - Please parse the acronym.
Lina 105: Same as "FOM"
Response: Thanks to the reviewers for their valuable comments, we have added full names to these acronyms.
Lines 301-302: The exponent must be superscript.
Response: Thanks to the reviewers for their valuable suggestions, we have marked them on the index.

Thank you for sharing this useful study. The data and methods seem appropriate for a coarse, national-scale study of this kind. It would be appropriate to note that land use decisions are usually made at a finer scale than the 1km grid applied here, so the results will need to be confirmed with local studies that may reveal different dynamics. The model assumes constant temperature and precipitation values, but of course these vary and are changing with the global climate, which should also be acknowledged in the projections for 2036.
English usage could be improved; a careful proofreading is required (note the punctuation error in the very first sentence of the abstract).
