Exploiting Extrinsic Information for Serial MAP Detection by Utilizing Estimator in Holographic Data Storage Systems
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
Comments and Suggestions for AuthorsThe manuscript talked about HDS, and the author exploited extrinsic information for MAP.
1. Eq 1 was expressed in figure 1.
2. Eq 5 and 6 are not clear. Please give the detailed structure.
3. Figure 1 is the key point of the manuscript, but it is not clear. Please add note where is the interfered signal, and how it acts to the estimator.
4. Eq 30 is ambiguous on h.
5. Would you mind giving some discrete image or data of HDS?
6. Why G can be expressed as the product of column and row vector? Is there any theory or reference?
7. Would you mind give an detailed example on the proposed method?

Comments and Suggestions for AuthorsThe authors propose a combined detection model within HDS systems, introducing the use of intrinsic information that assumes an improvement in the initial performance even in the case of iterative loops.
In addition, in order to more clearly highlight the way in which the research was carried out, to facilitate a better understanding of how such models can be implemented or adapted to specific requirements, as well as to increase the scientific value of the paper, it would be useful to consider the following aspects:
1. In section 4 it would be of interest if the misalignment case was treated for several value ranges, to realistically represent the simulations as well as to explain the decision to set the initial blur value to 1.85 and the subsequent intervals between 1.8 and 3.
2. The explanation of table 3, as a way of obtaining the results, is made in a sentence. A detailing of what is presented is necessary otherwise it may induce the idea of a simple statement.
3. The diagram in figure 3 could clearly highlight the proposed method by combining two methods, and explaining how the H Map and V Map relate.
4. Explaining the relevance of how the HI and Vi estimators are constructed, from a mathematical point of view.
5. The input data for the tests, for relevance, would need to be real, not generated.
