Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The manuscript is about "Microstructure and fracture behaviors of oscillating laser welded 5A06 aluminum alloy lock butt joint". The following comments should be considered before publication:

1. It is recommended that the effects of oscillating laser welding on grain sizes be observed with a high-quality optical microscope or EBSD. The following work has shown that the change in grain size due to welding can affect the diffusion rate of the alloy. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.msea.2022.143428

2. Please discuss the locations of pore formation.

3. Please enlarge the images.

4. What influence does the segregation of alloying elements have on the properties of the samples?

Reviewer 2 Report

In this manuscript, the effect of input current frequency on the mechanical, microstructural and fracture properties of the butt-welded aAl Alloy sheet has been investigated. The article is relatively well organized. But it has deficiencies that must be corrected before publishing.

The abstract and conclusion should be written more attractively. Most of it contains research methods. Almost all of the abstract is devoted to generalities and research methods. The novelty of the article should be clearly added to the abstract. Use more quantitative results in the abstract and conclusion. What is the justification for welding two sheets of the same material?

Compared to other sections, the introduction has been written in summary, which can be more comprehensive. Use the following sources. “Comparison between laser beam and gas tungsten arc tailored welded blanks via deep drawing” --- “Microstructure and mechanical properties of ultrasonic spot welding TiNi/Ti6Al4V dissimilar materials using pure Al coating” --- “Review of Selective Laser Melting of Magnesium Alloys: Advantages, Microstructure and Mechanical Characterizations, Defects, Challenges, and Applications” --- “Microstructure and mechanical properties of dissimilar NiTi/Ti6Al4V joints via back-heating assisted friction stir welding” --- “Investigation of welding crack in micro laser welded NiTiNb shape memory alloy and Ti6Al4V alloy dissimilar metals joints”)

How is the welding quality confirmed? How has the reproducibility of the results been checked? What is the number of samples subjected to tensile tests? SEM images with the higher quality should be used. The mechanical properties results section needs significant revisions. In this section, most of the results are reported and there is no robust analysis. Discuss more failure and fracture modes of samples.

Round 2

Reviewer 1 Report

The comments have not been considered carefully. The grain size can affect the dislocations and defects. EBSD-KAM should be added. In present format, this manuscript cannot be accepted. This is because of lack of novelty in its current condition.
