Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

In this work, the author used the experimental method to study the effects of the stitched nylon threads on the tensile strength of the GFRP 2D multilayer composite structures. Overall, the subject of the manuscript is of interest, but some important corrections should be made for reconsideration. The suggestions of the reviewer are as follows:

1. Some grammatical and typographical mistakes should be corrected in the manuscript.

- The past ten should be used for discussion of the available results (in the introduction section).

- Line 17: “young modulus” should be “Young’s modulus”.

- Line 30: “MCs” should be written out for the first time.

- Lines 70-73: This sentence should be revised.

2. Eq. (2) should be checked and corrected for the use of l_F (Eq. 2) and l_f (line 103)?

3. Eq. (4) should be checked and corrected. The meaning of Ec and “4” should be clearly explained.

4. It is noticed that the number of specimens is one of the most important parameters of the experimental study. How many specimens for each type of GFRP 2D multilayer composite structure were used in this study?

5. In Section 3.2, why are only two types of specimens used? Which stitched samples were used in this section?

6. A table of the fracture analysis should be provided for more details.

7. (Option): the authors can use commercial software such as ANSYS or Abaqus to validate the experiment results.

8. The conclusion should be revised; it should be consistent.

Minor editing of English language required.

Reviewer 2 Report

Lines 6-7 contain incorrect e-mails.

A scientifically based aim of research should be formulated.

The density of the stitch is not specified, although the authors in the Introduction write that the density of the stitch has a significant influence. The authors should also add to the article by analyzing the influence of stitch density.

It is not clear what A, B,...E are. The methodology must accurately describe the samples.

It is not clear about the statistics of the test results, whether the results were statistically reliable.

Lines 118-129 describe Fig.1, which does not have parts c...e. Here it is probably mixed with Fig.2.

In the legend of Fig.2, it is difficult to identify which results belong to A, B...E, it is impossible to distinguish by color.

A more detailed analysis of the results presented in figures 4, 5, 6 is missing, elementary, known truths are sometimes presented.

It is recommended to reduce the number of pictures by combining them into a), b)...
