General comments
In this study, Application of LightGBM algorithm in the initial design of library
based on comprehensive in the study area was investigated. The subject addressed in this study is worthy of investigation and the manuscript is relatively well-written. However, the results need to be further discussed as well as discussion of the findings in relation to past studies and there are few parts that need more clarification (see specific comments). Therefore, I recommend a major revision and this manuscript can be published only after addressing the specific comments below and any other associated comments:
Specific comments
Keywords: Ensure that keywords are arranged alphabetically…line 20
There is need for improvement in the background or introduction with novelty of the research and motivation for the research.
Line 32-32 “Optimizing and forecasting the building performance in the initial stage of design 32 [5]”…The sentence is incomplete.
The remaining sections of the paper was not listed as a sentence at the end of the introductory section
The main shortcoming of this manuscript is the lack of robust discussion in the results
Discussion of findings especially in relation to similar past studies was absent from the manuscript
Conclusion of the study needs improvement as a one line sentence and the generic nature of the conclusion for the study is not good enough.

Title
- Specify you only use a building for this study.
Introduction
- Provide the rationale to select a university library in Xinjiang, China.
- If you have a specific purpose of using one of the library buildings, provide the characteristics of the library buildings in general and the library used, respectively.
- Provide other library building performance optimization examples based on the characteristics of the library building.
- If the library does not have any rationale, you should use the word building and not the library.
- Compare the previous studies in a table with specific values including characteristics variables, number of data sets, accuracy and generalization ability of the model, which you mentioned as the limitation of this study in the Discussion chapter.
Materials and Methods
- If you had no materials used in this study, it is simply presented as a Method chapter.
- Provide the rationale for your 5 characteristic variables and each value range.
Discussion
- Need deeper discussion on your results with comparing previous studies.
Conclusions
- It could be slightly different based on your revised discussion.

The paper is very interesting to read. The paper introduces interesting integrated methodologies to optimize the design characteristics of buildings. The study's value is having such a fast and accurate decision during the design phase. The only minor comment I found is that Figure 1 is not shown directly after it is mentioned in the manuscript text. Other than that, I believe the paper is complete.
Authors, congratulations on this achievement, and continue the study in this area as mentioned in the conclusion section and try to link it with BIM to be more automated.
Author Response
The problem you mentioned has been adjusted in lines 148~150 of the article. Thank you for your advice and congratulations.
