Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

(1) A structure that is fixed on a rigid frame is not floating.  It is also not a practical concept as the upper structure will highly load the lower frame.  I suggest discussing these arguments in the paper.

(2) The type is called dissipative, however as it is impermeable and relatively smooth, it is my opinion that it is most of the wave attenuation is by reflection.  Vorticity near the extended bottom plat will cause some dissipation, however the plate is thick (2m in nature scale), while a thin plate is more effective for dissipation.  The relative dissipation D may be assessed by D^2 = 1 – T^2 – R^2, where T is the transmission coefficient and R is the reflection coefficient, however I do not see in the experimental setup wave probes at the up-wave side.

The reduction of T with the increasing of the wave height shows low dissipation.

Please clarify and discuss the dissipation aspect.

(3) What is the width and draft of the rectangular structure for Figure 6?

(4) In all the results figures for irregular waves, please mention Hs and Tp.  It is not clear what are H and T?

(5) The JONSWAP spectrum has shape parameters, which must be specified: the spectrum broadness Gamma, and the symmetry parameter Sigma (for frequency below and above 1/Tp).

(6) The waves in Figure 15 looks more regular than irregular.

Round 2

Reviewer 1 Report

Figure 6 compares the transmission coefficient of the Comb with Rectangular structure of about half the draft of the Comb.  In Revision 2 the draft of the rectangular was added, following my comment, however, since the draft of the Combo is double this should be clearly discussed.
