The manuscript titled “Relationships between Soil Aeration and Root Morphology in Response to Cucumber Yield under Aerated Conditions”, which is authored by Jin et al. Therefore, the manuscript will be of interest to its readers. However, to further improve its quality, I have suggested some modifications in the manuscript as below:
1. There are several English language and grammatical mistakes in the manuscript, which must be corrected before publication.
2. Please clearly mention the hypothesis of this study.
3. In Table 1 authors mentioned that the soil texture is clay loam and the bulk density in depth 40-60 is 1.79 g.cm-3. Could you explain that?
4. Authors didn’t mention about irrigation water quality and it could effect on root growth and soil salinity!
5. Lines 138-146 did not attach the root analysis images.
6. It would be better if figure 1 make it in separate figures.
7. Figure 3 and 4, please write dawn what does A0, A1, A2 stand for?
8. Line 330 mentioned that the highest yield was 53.04 tons / ha and it shows in Table 6 not in table 4.
9. Authors didn’t mention table 6 in the text!
10. Line 337-338, what does RMB stand for?
11. Please improve conclusion section.
12. Double check the citations and their references in the list.

1. Figure 1. Line 90-92. Why there was an increase in humidity and a decrease in temperature in the second half of the experiment? How to estimate the humidity of 80-100% at the end of the experiment?
2. Table 1 Basic physical and chemical properties of the test soil. Very high rate Bulk density for clay loam soil. Did it affect the root system of the cucumber? What was the structure of the soil? Did you do any mechanical treatment of the soil?
3. Figure 3 and 4. Figure captions. We need to give a transcript A0, A1, A2.
4. Have you done a statistical treatment between soil moisture and respiration?

The aim of the research presented in this manuscript was to clarify the suitable aerated volume for cucumber growthï¼›and analyze the coupling relationship between soil aeration index, root morphology, and 77 yield under different gas intakes clarified the key indicators to promote yield growth.
The Authors undertook research that is of great importance in the development of sustainable agriculture. The results they obtained indicate the possibility of increasing Cucumber productivity while reducing production costs. I have no doubt that the results presented by the Authors of the manuscript deserve to be published.

1) Check the mg/L unit, it is not in accordance with the SI;
2) What is the working hypothesis?
