Alternative Herbicides for Controlling Herbicide-Resistant Annual Bluegrass (Poa annua L.) in Turf
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
The authors report an analysis on the resistance of Poa annua crops on 10 types of herbicides.
The theme is particularly topical and needs particular attention.
The authors design a correct experimental protocol and apply an adequate statistical approach.
However, in my opinion the authors should discuss more the possibility of non-chemical solutions to weed control.
Authors should better discuss biological control strategies. In particular see: Rad, S.V. et al. Quantitative and Qualitative Evaluation of Sorghum bicolor L. under Intercropping with Legumes and Different Weed Control Methods. Horticulturae 2020.
Also, why did they choose unregistered herbicides for the fight against P. annua?
Finally, I believe that amicarbazone is banned in the European Union, this makes the collected results hardly applicable on a global scale. Authors should discuss this as well.

This manuscript presents robust data that is excellently presented and of significant value for practice.
I have minor suggestions to improve the conclusion part that should contain only your own findings, the cited literature from that part should be placed in the Discussion.

The manuscript is of wrathful consideration for weed scientists and agronomists. This is based upon effective control of important weed of that region. The write-up of whole manuscript is up to mark. English quality is acceptable. However, there are few suggestions that need to be incorporated before final acceptance as elaborated below:
- Please note the opening paragraph of the introduction could provide stronger context to the paper, and, similarly, the findings at the end could potentially be richer.
- At the end of Introduction section, there should be clear hypothesis and objectives of the designed study.
- The Results and Discussion section is okay.
- A clear cut conclusion giving take home message for readers should be given at the end of Results and Discussion section.
