Development and Validation of the General Dietary Behavior Inventory (GDBI) in Scope of International Nutrition Guidelines
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
A very interesting work of great practical importance in the diagnosis of nutritional status. The developed research tool allows for the extension of the research scope in a simple and modern way. The authors developed a new instrument for measuring dietary behavior aiming at several objectives, which I find very creative.

Reviewer 2 Report
The authors Engelmann et al provide a well-written manuscript. Generally, I do only have a few questions/comments.
What was the rationale behind using interpersonal trust and the just world questionnaires for discriminant validity?
I noticed that the mean BMI (>than 25) of the sample was indicating an overweight sample. Could the authors maybe also provide an age and gender corrected BMI (using percentiles, see Hemmelmann et al. 2010) to provide a measure of how far this sample is from the average German ?
As the new DGBI creates a sum score would it be possible to calculate Cronbach’s alpha for internal consistency?
Line 317: what is meant by a greater attitude towards food? Stronger? More positive?
The article itself focuses more on unhealthy eating habits usually found overweight individuals, would the authors also assume that it was possible to detect unhealthy eating habits in terms of orthorexia or anorexia nervosa?
