Comments and Suggestions for Authors

The articleDistribution, accumulation and translocation characteristics of 2 heavy metals Cd in different varities of edible rape under Cd stress” wrote by Jing Liu with coauthors described the investigation of the Cd accumulation in 25 varieties of raps.

Cadmium is a toxic heavy metal that can accumulate in the body over time and cause serious health problems. It is known to be carcinogenic and can damage the kidneys, liver, and other organs. Therefore, it is important to consume foods that are low in cadmium to protect our health.

Healthy foods that are low in cadmium are important because they help reduce the risk of cadmium poisoning and its associated health effects. Cadmium is often found in contaminated soil and water, and can be taken up by plants, especially those that are grown in polluted environments or near industrial areas.

Consuming foods that are low in cadmium can help minimize our exposure to this toxic metal and reduce the risk of developing cadmium-related health issues. Therefore, it is important to prioritize eating a healthy diet that is rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes, while also being mindful of where our food comes from and how it is produced to minimize exposure to cadmium.

Therefore article is very important. Howevere the several points needs to improve before acceptance for publication.

Abstract

Please do not use abbreviation in abstract – BCF, TCI, because it is not clear what is mean.

The introduction is very interesting and complete, with description of the recent literature. The main aim of the paper is clear.

The material and methods are very detailed, but please give more details about soil properties – content of C, Adsorption capacity, content of clay, content of sand, content of extractable Cd, et al., What is name of the soil according World soil classification.

Please to use subscript and superscript fonts.

Results

The presentation of the result is good. All figures and tables are clear. The explanation is complete.

Conclusion

The conclusions are clear.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

In this paper the authors carried out a field study on the behaviour of different rapes subjected to Cd toxicity. Although Cd must be the most commonly studied heavy metal and rapes are also highly studied regarding heavy metal studies, a field study is always an interesting subject, specially with a large number of rapes varieties (25).

Due to the number of formatting and english incorrections I only send a few comments but that give an idea on what should be improved.

Abstract

Please give some quantitative information regarding Cd content in the soil besides the very ambiguous “lightly polluted”.

Line 16: “and so on.” Should be removed

Line 17: Please insert a space between the number and the unit (check the rest of the document for this)

Line 18: A sentence should not start with “And…” (also elsewhere in the text)

Line 20: “Significant differences”

Introduction

The dangers of using edible plants for phytoremediation should be properly addressed.

Line 31: “kidney, liver and bone”.

Line 33: 7 %

Line 36: “has been an…”

Line 37: Please use the same citation form for the references. Also this reference is not mentioned in the references, the authors must fully revise the citations and references.

Line 41: “-1” should be in superscript (mistakes like this are all over the manuscript)

Line 43: citation is needed

Materials and methods

Proper latin nomenclature of the rape plants should be given

Lines 56/57: formatting error.

Line 61: What is TCd??

Line 63: please don’t start a sentence with a number!

Line 87: Never heard being called a “spectrogenerator”, it’s a spectrophotometer.

Line 101: why the big dots between the units? It was not like this in the text before.

Comments on the Quality of English Language

I started to correct some of the formatting errors (units, references) and English incorrections in the text, but they are too many. It seems this manuscript was submitted in a hurry without proper revision, thus I strongly recommend the authors to fully revise the text and submit it again.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

In the manuscript titled Distribution, accumulation and translocation characteristics of heavy metals Cd in different varities of edible rape under Cd stress , the authors calculated the Cd uptake, translocation and removal potential. Generally, there are several major issues that need to be addressed that would strengthen the validity of this interpretation of the data.

1) The text and the grammar should be carefully revised by a professional proofreading service.

2) How about the significance analysis in all Figures.

3) How about other growth profiles, such as chlorophyll content, photosynthesis rate, respiration rate, and transpiration rate, and the growth phenotypes?

4) How about the correlations among the studied parameters, and disscuss deeply in discussion?

Comments on the Quality of English Language

The text and the grammar should be carefully revised by a professional proofreading service.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

The manuscript has been much improved and most issues have been corrected or addressed by the authors. A few minor points:

Please check the way chemical formulas are written. In lines 73, 74, 81 the numbers in P2O2 and K2O should be in subscript.

Lines 93/101: Use only one term, either spectrometer or spectrophotometer.

Line 209: “uptake” and not uptak

Comments on the Quality of English Language

The english language has been much improved in this revised version
