Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The topic of this article is a bit unusual, but it is relevant to sustainability issues and very interesting. The paper is based on in-depth research and bears really novel results and interpretations. The paper is well-written and well-structured. The methodology is explained in detail.

  • Do not provide the authors' names in capitals, but add full affiliations.
  • The abstract should reflect that the study is limited to Taiwan.
  • Introduction: please, state the objective and underline that your study is based on the Taiwanese experience.
  • Sub-section 3.2: please, explain who are these experts – what is their experience, where they are from, how and why these and not others have been selected...
  • Discussion should be a separate section!
  • Are there any other similar studies in the other places of the world? If yes, please, indicate these and compare with your findings in Discussion.
  • Discussion: Is low socio-economic status typical to bus drivers? Why? What about average salaries? Do the drivers need to compete for this job, or the job is so bad the companies compete for drivers? I encourage the authors to write a bit more about the general factors of driver stress.
  • Conclusions: To me, the main limitation is this study is restricted to Taiwan. Things may be different in the other countries. Please, state this.
  • Please, check the style of text citations and the style of section and sub-section titles.

Good luck with revisions!

Interesting and original study on the work of tourist bus drivers in Taiwan and stress related to this work.
The research methods and used results analysis models are correct and have practical implications for coping strategies.
However, the article has geographical limitations, the authors in point 2.1. discuss the development of coach tourism only in Taiwan and analyzed coach accidents there.
It would be advisable to give a wider background in this chapter, illustrated with examples from other destinations outside the East Asia & Pacific region.
From editorial errors, I would like to draw attention to the lack of affiliation of authors and the inactive link No. 20 in references, No. 51 is available only in Chinese.

In addition, the number of literature used is relatively small (51 items).

Dear Authors,

thank you for your interesting paper, it is well written, the topic is original and the methodology is appropriate.

I have a doubt about the introduction section:

In the first lines you state that "Coach drivers are the soul of sustainability of coach tourism industry. They are 25 responsible for the safety of coach tour travelers ([1]). Nevertheless, coach drivers 26 are accused of being responsible for a series of deadly accidents in Taiwan", are you meaning that safety is the only factors determining sustainability?

Maybe there is a confusion between the term sustainability and the term responsibility.

Regards,
