Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The article "Preference for Number of Friends in Online Social Networks"
It has an interesting theme and if improved it can contribute to the magazine and readers.

The introduction lacks current information, works published in the last 3 years. What evolved news and current issues. Even more because of the topic that the article refers to.

Section 2
Also, the data set with 2019 data and we are already in 2021, we need to update. With that, we will have an updated survey;

It is imperative to develop a section comparing related works.

I suggest works published from 2019 onwards, in addition to the research theme and area involving a topic that changes very quickly and the reader needs to have a vision of what exists.

I suggest recently published work that can contribute to the work developed

doi.org/10.3390/computers9040077

I suggest defining half of the test figures as main, a maximum of 5 and the rest insert as an appendix.

Reviewer 2 Report

The paper studies a phenomenon for which the presence of a number of friends equal to 200 implies a series of characteristics like activity, popularity, and attention.

The analysis is conducted only on a specific online social network (Sina Weibo), therefore it is not possible to evaluate the generality of the phenomemo.

No related work is present and the  bibliography is very old.

Similar studies should be carried out on other social networks.

Round 2

Reviewer 1 Report

There are changes made, for the final version it is necessary to format the text, review writing and check references. Some that the authors said were included are not identified in the references. See your answer:

Point 3: It is imperative to develop a section comparing related works. I suggest works
published from 2019 onwards, in addition to the research theme and area involving a topic that
changes very quickly and the reader needs to have a vision of what exists. I suggest recently
published work that can contribute to the work developed doi.org/10.3390/computers9040077
Response 3: Thank you for your valuable advice and suggested paper for reference. We have
added a section (Section 2) to introduce related works, including number preference and social
media. And, we have cited more related literature which published in 2019 to 2021 in the proper
place of this section. We believe that by detailing recent work in this section, the reader will
have a clear vision of the relevant area.

I suggest to introduce in the paper a discussion to justify the lack of a comparison with other social networks dividing what does not make sense from what can be reserved for a future investigation.

I suggest a re-reading to improve the presentation
