The Use of Acoustic Emission to Diagnosis of Fuel Injection Pumps of Marine Diesel Engines
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
The reviewed paper is interesting and reflects the subject matter of the journal. If it is possible it would be advisable to increase the font size describing axes in fig. 9 and 10.The list of literature seems to be insufficient and should be widen with additional items from renowned English-language journals presenting the latest achievements.
The current list includes relatively too many outdated items(60% of them are older than five years). It does not seem reasonable to refer to the Polish language literature from 1994, the more so because it is the journal paper.
Author Response
We have tried to make the description of the axes visible in the enlarged diagram. It seems that each electronic enlargement of Figures 9 and 10 should accurately depict the values indicated in each axis. Unfortunately, the axis description font enlargement significantly reduces the accuracy of presented frequency bands. This might be of importance for readers interested in specific values of characteristic frequencies' of the particular phenomena. Therefore, if the reviewer accepts our translation, we would like to retain the chosen font size in Figures 9 and 10.
We fully agree that the references in the article should be broadened. We have supplemented the references with the latest publication in English. Previous reference to the 1994 publication in Polish was intended for possible Polish-speaking readers, and included first descriptions of mathematical basis for using acoustic emission understood as elastic waves, nor the classical acoustics. In the current version of the article, that reference is deleted. Besides, the authors have added references to more recent publications in English. Some of the publications have been replaced. New items related to the subject of research have been added. Also, the references now include items containing the latest results.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors
This manuscript illustrates the problems of maintaining fuel injection pumps of marine diesel engines in the conditions of use of residual fuels whose quality is steadily deteriorating. The authors showed a good description on the analysis methods and research results of this study, and I recommend this work for publishing in energies after minor revision according to the following comment:
The manuscript is adequately presented in a very good scientific manner. It is thoroughly researched. The conclusion is adequately supported by results. The results are very clear and well explained. However, the part of introduction is very poor. In this part, the research background and significance, the innovations and the structural arrangements of this paper should be summarized, explained, and given, respectively. The authors should use a lot of literatures to investigate them. In addition, The use of the literatures should be in order, such as [1-3]… not [1,7,8].Author Response

Some of the publications have been replaced. New items related to the subject of research have been added. Also, the references now include items containing the latest results.
We agree with the reviewer that the properly ordered references increase the clarity of the article; however, the authors have referred to a number of items in particular parts of the article, where the rearrangement might be misleading in understanding some parts of the text. Therefore, the authors would be grateful if the form of references adopted by the authors might be acceptable to the reviewer.
