Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The manuscript described the psychological mechanism and demographic predictors of migration intention among urban people in Hanoi, Vietnam. This study has clearly presented both content and data with high quality. The current data is sufficient for publication. Therefore, I strongly recommend accepting it for publication as the way is it.

I think this paper covers a very interesting topic.

It seems necessary to present specific data on air pollution, which is the key keyword of this paper. It would be good to present data on air pollution in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Reviewer 4 Report

The Manuscript entitled “Escaping from air pollution: Exploring the psychological mechanism behind the emergence of internal migration intention among urban people” investigates the psychological mechanism and demographic predictors of migration intention among urban people in Hanoi. The study is fascinating and explores the urban population's migration intention on air quality. I found the manuscript is missing the flow and seems sometimes more explanatory. Migration intention has many factors and great authors tried to explore them in the light of air pollution, but the manuscript is lacking clarity. Authors may improve the manuscript in the light of the following comments:

1)      Title: The title can be improved – the current title is not clear enough to highlight the work

2)      Introduction: It is right in the beginning but lacks the flow

3)      Theoretical foundation: Is this required? I am not convinced with the text written

4)      The city population is more than 5 Million but only 475 samples have been carried out. Authors may justify their sample size selection.

5)      Authors may explain the model to calculate the probability of citizens migration intention.

6)      Authors may provide or calculate the probabilities of migration intention in male, different age groups and education levels.

7)      What about the policies to improve the air quality over the city and its impacts?

The overall manuscript is long and not focused. Looks like a dissertation report rather than a manuscript. I suggest authors to re-frame the manuscript. All the best.
